Electronic cigarettes and fire alarms - they do not mix!

So some time ago in my old workplace quite a few of us used the eGo/Vision batteries and ce4 or such styled cleomizers.
Once I decided to go to the toilet because of the nature call and without further realization reached for my device (shame on me!). 
I have had to take my time because of the circumstances, so I was happily puffing away with my head somewhere in the undefined world of 'what other things I can do to my car to make it better/faster'. 
Next thing I realized is that it is a bit cloudy in there!
As I was done anyway got myself ready to leave the cubicle and as I opened the door the movement rushed some more vape towards the fire sensor which... Set the alarm off!

Of course there was no real fire and I was verbally disciplined by my FLM (I did owned to it straight away as we were leaving the building) but that got me curious to try at home and see the results. 

But before I did that my first regulated VV/VW mod came and postponed that.

Finally had some time few weeks ago and the findings are that regardless of the device and tank I was using the alarm went off every time.

So a word of warning my fellow vapers - be careful when vaping in enclosed public spaces - you might set a fire alarm off!

I'm surprised at that.

Where I work we have super sensitive fire sensors fitted to all the fire doors which close automatically if they detect all sorts of stuff.

I've managed to make them close just walking past them after being at the garage and filling the car........must have had petrol on my trainers.

But.....I cannot set them off by blowing clouds at them.

I think there must have been I big improvement in the last few years with Smoke detectors as the 3 fitted in our flat can withstand what can only be described as a Smog, and have never accidentally activated.

One is in the kitchen right above the cooker, yet never gone off either apart from testing.

In my last house, my fire detectors would seem to activate if it smelt some toast in my neighbours house next door !!
Bluddy things (upstairs and down, and if not quick enough to hit the 'reset' button, the upstairs one would join in the racket, causing me to have to run up stairs and hit its button), and the times I had to threaten them with a hammer.

However the upstairs one did not go off when I was testing out my new iSub tank and the Atlantisesses v1 and v2, and hadn't quite got over the novelty of blowing clouds every where, which seem to me to be enough to bring on a new climate change by themselves.
(Not that I really believe in that malarky)

However, in my new house, the alarm I think will only activate if there is an actual fire, so I quite like it, and doesn't go off if it sniffs a few wiffs of toast or something not lethal to me.
It was tested the day we moved in, along with the Co2 detectors, and any other gizmos that are nailed to the ceilings.

Ever so tempted to try this at work. It takes ages to get everybody back in the building and they are constantly going off anyway because we have a combination of fire and gas detectors. Gas detectors being in the cable chambers

I quite often finish a Vape as I walk through the door and have yet to set any off though

The thing is the smoke was REALLY thick when the alarm went off at work.
At home not much really but at the same time I blowed straight into it.
I haven't researched what fire alarm I had at work and which one is at home, but saying that they should work on oxygen deprivation if that makes sense?
So basically if they don't receive enough oxygen they should go off!

Interesting stuff sydsut..

However my ones in the old house could sniff out a bit of bacon or toast and go berserk, but as they were mounted on the ceiling in the hall way at bottom stairs (and it's evil brother on the ceiling at the top of the stairs) I had to make sure the kitchen door was shut when making something that would emit some flavour, like bacon, sausages or toast etc...
But the new house house one is mounted on the ceiling in our kitchen and is extremely well behaved, which allows me to cook or burn my favourite artery busting foods without a murmur of discontent.

My alarm in the hall is adjacent to the bathroom and when I shower I have to be careful when opening the door after or the vapour sets it off. Have to flick a towel at it. PITA

Some sensors do. some sensors don't. I have 3 smoke alarms in my house (hard wired, not the battery type) I can chuck clouds at them and the don't go off. Burning toast though is a different story.

Southwark Council has fitted new fire alarms in all flats since the fire in Lakanal House, I quite often set mine off if I'm using my cloud machines

The ones I 'tested' were both hard wired and went mental if too much vapour was at them.
But still better be careful when near one as you don't know if you'll set it off or not...

Oh yes, that is another one I forgot, and when the Granddaughter has had a month long shower using every bottle of goop she can lay her hands on, all hell breaks loose if she doesn't shut the door when she leaves the bathroom, no matter how many times we remind her to do so, especially if we are not quick enough to silence the upstairs landing one, before its evil twin downstairs joins in the racket.............women !!

Her answer to this mayhem is "Oh sorry Granddad, I forgot." (again)
