My alarm in the hall is adjacent to the bathroom and when I shower I have to be careful when opening the door after or the vapour sets it off. Have to flick a towel at it. PITA Oh yes, that is another one I forgot, and when the Granddaughter has had a month long shower using every bottle of goop she can lay her hands on, all hell breaks loose if she doesn't shut the door when she leaves the bathroom, no matter how many times we remind her to do so, especially if we are not quick enough to silence the upstairs landing one, before its evil twin downstairs joins in the racket.............women !! Her answer to this mayhem is "Oh sorry Granddad, I forgot." (again) And probably she will keep on doing that for years to come Better get plenty of patience in yourself!

I managed to set the alarm off in my flat the other night, surprised me because it's never happened before and i didn't think i was vaping any heavier than usual.

Well it is not quite so often now that she is sort of all growed up and now 20 years (where did the time go, since I helped to change her nappy many moons ago - like to mention this now and again just to make her go all red... ) and at University, but does manage to invade our house when she comes back to the Island as she can slob out and have big girlie talks with the wife/Nanny. She will also come armed with her own bottles of goop, but still manages to run down our stock of the stuff. But, she does smell nice afterwards....

The two main types of Smoke detectors used are Optical & Ionisation Ionisation are not used as much now and are considerable less likely to be activated from vapour or steam from your bathroom Optical Smoke detectors will be activated if you allow the vapour to enter the chamber, at a guess i would say if you were to keep 10 to 12 feet away from the detector with normal amount of vapour (not big clouds ) you should be quite safe as the vapour has time to dissipate before reaching the detector The other form of smoke detection VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) This system will detect even a very small amount of vapour but don't worry to much as tends to be used in computer rooms or high value areas

I've set mine off 3x in 2 days (smoke not fire alarm). I blame it on my infestation of carpet beetles

Both my OH and I vape in the house, and we have never set off our hard-wired smoke alarms, although they do go off (mounted in the hall and upstairs landing) if we cook in the kitchen and create a bit of a smeach when grilling sausages, etc. My 18-yo daughter is quite successful toasting muffins or crumpets which she does from time to time - almost unfailingly does the bleddy thing start creating. They must be some carpet beetles, @johanino!!

My 2 were so sensitive, even with a door between me vaping and them, had to disarm them both, lol.

Reading everyones experiences I am glad that I am not the only one that managed to set them off! Would feel rather silly if it was only me! Can't wait for my order from focal now to get even more grief from the alarm!
