Yes..

I am using 3 x rechargeable AA 2500 mah batteries.

3.9 volts when no load..3.65 volts under load..Works fine..

They are NiMh batteries. No stacking problems with those..

Because they only output 1.3 volts each. That's why I need 3 to make 3.9 volts. A single Li Ion battery is 3.7 volts.

Also the C rating ie., ability to supply amperage vis-a-vis rating of NiMH is quite low. A good IMR Li-ION can do almost 10C. NiMh can only manage about 2-3 C.

Plus NiMH doesn't have the energy density of Li-ION.

Assuming the torch still works and your dad vapes, he'll be well and truly happy with that.
If the torch no longer works (which I reckon is quite likely ) and your dad doesn't vape I imagine he won't be that impressed? hahaha.

Thats my feeling entirely.
Either its my 'fiddling' side or its my 'tight' side? Either way I would prefer to have a go at fixing something rather than calling someone in first.

Its back to the beginnings - the original screwdriver was based on a torch body I believe. I've never seen a plastic one used though
Now, for your next project macca I've got a couple of round LED lights. When one of them packs up the body holds 3 x AAA batteries so I reckon that would produce a really original mod
