cHooBeyDooThat's handy to know your in the same boat with the kodi version. I'm not using it for games and am still using the supplied remote so can't say anything about your other issues. I notice on the play store that there is an app to use your phone as the remote though so might give that a try to see how it goes. I did install the custom build today and it went mostly okay, a couple of scripts not working and no programme information in the tv guide, oh and without a VPN some of the add ons aren't working (like prime wire) but apparently there are workarounds. For the money though it seems a decent box. As for moving apps to SD card, I always thought you had to root first, at least that used to be the case on phones and I assume the box will be the same ?

The box works great, it does what it's suppose to do and although clunky/fiddly the remote works OK too! I have a wireless mouse attached, it works brilliant and it's so much easier to use a real mouse, certainly faster than the mouse button on the remote. Not really used Kodi much, only to play a few .mkv and .avi files from SD card, but plays with no problem. My MXIII box was already rooted, it has SuperSU preinstalled (which requires a rooted device) and I was able to install Sixaxis Controller app for PS3 controller (also requires a rooted device). The developer (or ROM maker/designer) obviously turned off the option to be able to move apps to SD card, I think maybe because the internal hardware might cause problems somewhere along the line EDIT: Just installed Root Checker from Google Play and it tells me the box IS rooted

Looks like your right about the dev turning this off then, though the hardware should be able to handle it if you consider old slow clunky phones can handle it (used to have a very old sony experia that was rooted and coped fine with apps on sd, even though it had less ram than an empty sheep pen and a processor so slow a one legged octogenarian could have outrun it) I did look at a wireless mouse but thought that using the phone as remote would have been good as it's the only thing my girlfriend tries her hardest not to lose down the back of the couch lol. Your spot on about the mouse function on the remote though

Too true and totally agree! I have an old Sony Xperia PLAY which I still use, I rooted it myself to get rid of all the bloatware so the hardware is pretty much old hat now and I can move apps to SD card on that no problem! One other question, do you know how I can get a live wallpaper to work on the MXIII box? Does a live wallpaper work on these things? I can't seem to find a way of it getting it to show in the background yet, although, it's early days, still finding my way around on this thing!

cHooBeyDooCan't see why live wallpaper's wouldn't work, though I haven't tried any. Try going into "settings" then "more settings" then "display" then "wallpaper" then "live wallpapers" and see if any of the pre installed ones work ? If they do then I cant see why any that you download wouldn't

I got my mxIII-G and had a play about with it today. Couple of niggly things like the play store has Kodi 15.2 and my box is Kodi 14 something but only options are uninstall and open, no update option. Okay I could sideload the new version or try uninstalling then installing again but ...... Apart from that a lot of the streams on genesis are unavailable, tried about 15 on the list before one played ..... Wouldn't bother me as I would keep trying them till I get a working one but I bought the box for my completely tech useless girlfriend. Still, tomorrow is another day and I'm going to try a custom build on it (Andy's Build 5.2) and we'll see how that goes. I've picked that as the interface (skin) looks good and easy to navigate, and also the adult content is disabled by default as her 10 year old son and 5 year old niece are going to have access to it. Apart from that it seems to work fine My Kodi is v14.1 Helix, not able to update to the latest version from the Play store either, 14.1 works well but I read that Kodi v15.1 (latest is 15.2) has quite a few bugs, although they may or may not of fixed them for v15.2. Another thing I found out yesterday is that you are not able to move any apps to the SD card on the MXIII, I tried a few 'Apps2SD' apps and had no option to move apps to SD card! Apparently developers have the option of disabling this from Android 2.2 upwards so looks like they disabled this on the MXIII and i'm running out of space quickly I did hit one brick wall, I get a message keep appearing on the screen 'Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped' everytime I plug my new wireless controller or try to connect my PS3 controller and have to reboot the machine for the message to disappear Luckily I found out my wireless Xbox controller for the PC works but I don't have much room for big games and their huge file download sizes You can download Kodi Isengard 15.2 directly from their site cHooBeyDoo & install it over 14.1.........I've been using it for a few months without any problems.............. kodi.tv/download/"Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!"

Tried that already, downloaded the apk from the site but it wouldn't install over the top for some reason Uninstalling 14.1 and fresh/clean installing 15.2 would probably work best for my version.

That's exactly what happened when I tried it today ! downloaded the right thing, made sure the option for installing from other sources was on, install appeared to be working, then "X app not installed". Tried lots of things but only worked when I uninstalled 14 . 1 then ran the install apk for 15.2 again.

This might help you guys...............This is how I did it...................... "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" I managed it eventually, but had to uninstall 14.1 first, as every time I tried installing over the top of it, it failed.
Uninstalling 14.1 then doing the exact same thing as I had been doing before and it worked first time.

That's what I tried first (also tried other ways too) but have tried again and the 15.2 apk was still not able to be installed over the top of the original 14.1 Helix installation. The developer must have put some sort of lock on certain things in this rom. So, just uninstalled v14.1 and was able to install latest version 15.2 (same as charliehorse) and all seems to working great so far

cHooBeyDooCan't see why live wallpaper's wouldn't work, though I haven't tried any. Try going into "settings" then "more settings" then "display" then "wallpaper" then "live wallpapers" and see if any of the pre installed ones work ? If they do then I cant see why any that you download wouldn't Think I managed to find out why I can't load any live wallpapers. When I first turned the box on, I activated the Mediabox launcher (found out it's called Mediabox and not Metro, the one that's looks similar to Windows 8 tiles) but can't find a way to revert back to normal Android OS now, seems the Mediabox launcher isn't able to load live wallpapers in the background. UPDATE: I downloaded and installed the Google Now Launcher (very similar to Android UI) and booted up to it (selected it in the option from boot) and the live wallpaper was active straight away. Looks like the Mediabox Launcher definately can't use live wallpapers Also, finally found an app that moves apps/files to my SD card that actually works: Link2SD All I need to do now is sort out the dreaded 'Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped' message from bombarding my box everytime I plug in a third party controller/air/mouse/keypad! Getting there slowly though UPDATE_2: Think i've finally solved it! I cleaned the Google Play Services cache in the app settings and uninstalled the update, then re-updated it through Google Play....... so far so good, no error messages

Am waiting on mine coming (at the dearer price, but probably save me in the long run) Hopefully I will be able to find a step by step guide for idiots to set it up when it arrives
