Wondered if anyone could help with something thats confuddling the hell outta me ??? Its regarding a Vapor shark rdna40 & a vamo 35w, using ruthless grape drank in an Atlantis 2 with the 0.5 coil on the vamo @7w its brilliant, loads of vapor, nice smooth vape & great taste............now take the Atlantis off & put it on the rdna40 (using the same efest battery, which is fully charged) Its totally different ?!?......7w does nothing, i have to put it up to around 14-15w to get the same kind of vapor & then its not as nice ......the coil seems to heat up too fast & its quite a harsh vape !! Then when I look at a chart (like the one I usually use below) it says I should be around 18w plus on a 0.5 coil ???....although admittedly every coil Ive made never uses the wattage they recommend in that chart ( If im reading it right I'm guessing it should be in the black text ??) It always needs more watts than the chart says ??

I would think it is just one is more accurate than the other.

Or perhaps the vamo doesn't step down?
Chris
(As in isn't capable of reducing the nominal voltage of the battery like the clouper mini for example so even though it shows you seven watts it's actually delivering the batteries nominal voltage 3.7 ish volts so your really vaping at 20 plus watts no matter what the vamo screen tells you )

I'm inclined to agree....its just cooked one of the coils :-( Is this a fault with the vamo board ?.....If so it looks like I'll have to get another mod or replace the board with one from FT... FFS!!

Does the vamo still use pulse width in the latest designs? I always find pulse width gives a much harsher vape.

I never bought it new (it was given to me by decoy) so ive no idea how old it is blakey, but it is a bit like Chris has said & they only way I get the same kind of performance from the same atty, with the same 0.5 coil from the rdna is to knock it up to about 15w......(using an efest 2100mah 30a) Thing is my sister bought me some batteries (vtc4's from ecoluxshop) I charged them & put one in the vamo, after a few puffs it was just burnt coil taste, the wattage was the same but you could hear the coil fizzing away as though i'd increased the wattage.

tbh i think the vamo prob dont step down, its a mk5/6 ,the one that only takes 650s and has dimples ,i didnt use it for that long vt4,s have a lot less sag than the efest(more power for longer) .5 ohm pulls around 25 to 30 watts(i think) strange how its toasted a occ coil mind

I think this lack of step-down in lots of newer devices is a definite problem area.... Vamos up to v5 at least would step down to 3V RMS with PWM, and ok they wouldn't fire with less than about 1.2Ohm coils, but they gave a very good vape with most tanks. Not everyone wants/needs to sub-ohm and therefore need a certain minimum power output.... why not just build devices that buck and boost like they used to?? .....
at the end of the day, vape on a device set to give you a good vape, whether that device says 7W, 20W or whatever else...

If you replace the board markus, I would recommend this one www.fasttech.com/products/0/10010021/2093103-vamo-v8-3-0-40w-vw-variable-wattage-control-module. I used it in a box mod, it does step down, is reasonably accurate compared to the sigelei 75w, its 0.05v difference using a sub tank .8ohm coil at 21watts. For the price and performance, I've ordered another two for my bits and pieces box. The v10 board apparently for whatever reason has issues if you don't use stacked/series batteries, so for me that was one to avoid.
