Prompted by a post on FB earlier - why am I always missing at least one flavour from any new recipe I see? I've been thinking about this & I'm sure all mixology aficionados have asked themselves the same question at some time. So, after minutes of research and looking at reruns of old Horizon programmes, I have a theory. All flavour concentrates actually exist only in parallel universes. They are sub atomic particles that obey the laws of quantum mechanics, they can exist in several places at the same time, but if you try to observe them, they're not there. I reckon Schrodinger (of cat fame) was actually called Capella at birth. This explains why it's a fundamental rule of physics that you can never have the right concentrates when you want them. You can only have all the concentrates you don't need. Steeping is actually a quantum process, whereby concentrates pop in from a parallel universe for a short time and subtly change the flavour. Quantum fluid dynamics at work simples So I expect the Large Hadron Collider will soon be hitting the headlines with a Higgs Vanilla Custard particle being discovered, followed by a Vanilla Bosun Ice Cream.

Haha reefcat, I think that might have been my post you're referring to! I was all ready to make up Kal's latest offreing to the group, and found that Key Lime was missing from my box. Not a conc I use a lot, but I am sure I bought a 10ml just in case. Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to go shopping again . . .

It was indeed your post chykensa, but I suspect it could have applied to all of us. Lost count of the times I have an order on it's way, and before it gets here, someone posts a new "must have" recipe, and I'm missing just one vital flavour. The postage to over here is so steep that I have to wait a while before justifying the cost. So I list the missing ones out on a spreadsheet, and sometimes weeks later, put the order in. Then by the time it gets here I've forgotten what it was for in the first place. Then I discover that another key component that I had in stock when I first made my list, has now run out, so it starts all over again. The joys of quantum alchemy

I recently ordered some TFA Smooth and also some Brandy flavour for recipes that I had in mind. I'm buggered if I can remember which ones they were now, but it's Sod's Law that Key Lime wasn't in either of them Ah, Quantum Alchemy, my favourite!
