A couple of days ago my neighbours boy came to me for some advice on Vaping. Ever glad to do what I can, he explained that he had started vaping 3 months ago and was now looking to upgrade to a better set-up.
He was using a 80w Eleaf with a sub ohm tank and the vapour from it was setting off the fire alarms in his student digs.
Well after I picked up my chin from the floor, I had to tell him he was away ahead of me on the vaping front and I handed him one of the cards for AAE-C and told him that you guys and gals was the best place for any advice.
In the meantime, I will stick to me 5w which not only satisfies me, but also gives me almost 24 hours of charge.
But I do wonder where vaping is heading if Vendors are advising newbies to vape at 40w+ on sub ohm tanks.

On the other hand, whatever our personal feelings . . . . they're not smoking, so surely that's a good thing?

This kid used to smoke. His Mum and Dad also smoke, so one changing to vaping may be the encouragement that the others need.
However I am more concerned about the Vendor's attitude towards newby vapers. Perhaps profit far outweighs a common sense approach to introducing them to the joys of vaping.
If more clouds than the average steam engine is the new way forward for vaping, then I can see it being banned left, right and centre from just about every establishment in the country.
I never thought I would see the day when Vapour was more important than Satisfaction.

I quite enjoy an occasional session of sub ohming but I couldn't do it all day! besides I'd have to haul around a battery pack to keep up with it draining my mod batteries I think vaping is my habitual habit and I prefer to chain vape at a nice sensible low level and have my juice (and batteries) last a decent length of time. I too am agog at some of the gear new vapists kick off from My daughter is more than content a year on with mini isticks and itaste vv's with iclear16s tanks, no interest in taking a step up as it works for her. I tried to get a pal onto mini protanks but she just went back to throwaway ce4's. She's happier binning them every 10 days and buys 40 at a time! says the protanks are too heavy on her lanyard but both of them are content vapers and fair play to them for sticking at what they have.

Sensible lad . . . . personally, I still believe a dabble with subohming is more preferable to experimenting with other substances. If it satisfies his need and curiousity.

If it's keeping his lungs clear of smoke and the associated toxins it's ultimately for his own good. I can't find an 80 watt Eleaf though, is it a slip of the keyboard

<<< I can't find an 80 watt Eleaf though, is it a slip of the keyboard>>> No idea sydsut. He said it was an 80w eleaf, but I didn't examine it. All I know is that when he exhaled, he disappeared in a cloud of vapour. I can vape in my local Bistro, but I know that anyone who vaped like that in there would be asked to leave. And quite right too!

However I am more concerned about the Vendor's attitude towards newby vapers. Perhaps profit far outweighs a common sense approach to introducing them to the joys of vaping. Here's how I'd deal with anyone who came into my ( hypothetical ) shop as a new vaper asking for a set up that made clouds, lots of them . . . . after I'd explained the other options available, if they were still determined, I'd sell them a sub tank of some description and a device that could handle such a tank safely. Before they left my shop I would also make it my business to explain the social niceties of using such hardware. In the hope that they would be respectful of these when in public. If someone is determined to be a ' cloud chaser ' then selling them something that isn't what they want makes no sense to me? And as we found out at our recent vape meet it isn't only new vapers using such things who are lacking in vaping etiquette.

An interesting topic, this. I have had experience of both the hardened vaper who is quite satisfied with a low watt, low emission setup (touchy subject this, I drive a Transporter T4!), and also a cloud chaser who is a gentleman of more mature years. Both are ex-smokers like most of us, and both are quite satisfied with their combinations. However, I witnessed the latter as he exhaled a plume of 2mg nic 100% VG vapour into a pub without first checking that they would be happy for us to vape. Result? - politely asked to refrain or exit PDQ. On walking to the train station with this gent, I asked him on his thoughts regarding the way he was treated. He was surprised at the reaction, saying that he couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I politely pointed out that anyone in the pub in question who wasn't conversant with vaping would see his plume as tantamount to breaking the (ineffectual) law on 'smoking' in a public place indoors, and he had a light-bulb moment! Vendors obviously have a need to make a sale. If this is backed up with knowledge, advice and caution, along with the necessary words regarding battery safety and public etiquette, then I see no problem; as Perpetua says, if they aren't smoking then some good has come of their purchase, and for that we should be grateful. And 'horses for courses'. As long as we are mindful of others, and vape responsibly, we can tolerate the cloud chasers and the low watt vapers equally well, as we are all saving our souls (to say nothing of our bodies!).

The lad in question has now returned to Uni and is now studying and living in the centre of Glasgow where he no doubt has a wide range of choice Vape Shops to peruse for his next sub ohm device. Meanwhile we "of the out in the sticks community" have to make do with online purchases based on reading between the lines of Forum Members. It is all Horses for Courses ofcourse. I may not ever get the experience of "hands on buying" of my vape gear, but then again, how many city dwellers get the opportunity to pit our vapes against the "healthy" fragrance of a freshly manured field????

Passed a farmer spreading slurry yesterday and had to assail him with a big lungful of Strawberry Milkshake to get rid of the smell!
