I have only just started using Clapton/Hendrix coils, but I dont really understand the differences between different sizes.
I can see that FT have several available but I have not got a clue what the benefits are of each.
If someone could explain, I would be most grateful.
Thanks for any advice.

Ni200 (coiled), 0.3mm*0.2mm*

Ni200 (coiled), 0.4mm*0.2mm*

Good post Greigster, I've just popped some pre-coiled babies in my FT basket, but hot totally sure what I've nabbed!! I THINK that the first figure is the internal diameter of the coil, and then the other two are the diameters of the two different wires used to make the Clapton wire. I'm more than happy to be put right if needs be though!

Thanks chykensa, You see, I thought the first 2 wires were both the internal and the third wire is the coiled part I though I could see the way they are made up, but perhaps I can`t. I just don`t know how the different sizes of both internal and external wire effect the way that the coil fires or which sizes are suitable for different atties........I am a bit of a thicko when it comes to these more complicated coils. I had just about got my head round single wire coils and then along comes all this "knit one pearl one and cast off the last stitch" type heating elements

Almost, the last number is the outer wire and the first are the inner, where there 3 numbers it a fused clapton (parallel core) and the first 2 numbers are the inner wires.

All I know about them is, they take a couple of minutes to get up to temp. Unless you ramp up the watts. A bit like boiling a kettle!!!!
Ok, so that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I can't see the point unless you want to fog up the room with your dripper.

Actually, I'd be interested to learn if there's any actual advantage to using 'fancy' coils wiv mesh/rope?... I ask 'cos I've stopped using Ribbon to coil wiv...My NETs just make it too difficult to get the wicks removed! Back on bog-standard 26g. Kanthal, haven't ventured into TC territory yet..........(Hope this ain't OT..!)

I am using an Ipv D2 at 45joules with an Ni200 ClaptonHendrix, 5 wraps around 3mm .13ohms and it heats intstantly.
