Hi all, just joined the site and would like to pick ye brains a little. Been smoke free for 6 mnth Got a I stick 40 & lemo using a .18 ni coil at mo. Think I'm building me coils ok as they work ok, problem is I'm not getting the flavour, tastes muted, I am using ready made juice as well as diy. In my mini naut tastes ok, but in lemo tastes just not there. What am I doing wrong? Also thinking of getting a kayfun v4 clone are they any good?

Some people are going to disagree with me here but personally i find Ni coils mute the flavour. Try a regular kanthal coil in normal power mode on the Lemo, at the very least you can rule out whether or not it's the coil type that's at issue.

Will try and see if it makes a difference, must admit I do find the ni wire has a metallic tang to it when first fired up, not really convinced with Tc yet, have you used titanium wire?

HI ripperkipper, and welcome to the forum!! Now, this is my own personal opinion, but I prefer Kanthal to the newer wires like Nickel and Titanium, although I've only tried Ti once! When I get some time to spare I will really try to get to grips with TC, but my few attempts so far have been far from successful. I put twin Ni200 coils in my Velocity dripper, but have now gone back to Kanthal A1 because it's a medium I'm comfortable with. What do you use to wick with? This may make a difference too; I use good ol' Superdrug cotton wool balls, and they have served me well, despite having also tried Rayon and Muji. I still prefer the ease of CWBs!! Hope this helps, it will be interesting to see what others say here too

I'm using muji, might try CWBs, do they need to be boiled? I`m nearly out of ni wire so will prob go back to kant anyway easier to coil and a bit more robust.

Be aware that Kayfuns are not high power devices. Just my opinion but I think the V4 is over engineered, you'll be lucky if the spring doesn't cause fluctuations in resistance (which can burn the wick) there is no flow control. I've not heard people raving about it being better than earlier versions. Maybe think about an earlier version Kayfun.

I'd agree with chykensa, I use .45 kanthal, 3mm id, 6/7 wraps gives me just under 1 ohm, wick with muji and it gives me full flavour at around 18/20watts, I've tried TC with both stock and home made coils and I didn't find the the vape to be superior , in fact it was inferior compared to a well built traditional coil with good wicking. As for the kf4........ Disappointing to say the least

I have the Kayfun Light+ which is brilliant but it is a tight draw which I like, very easy to build with great flavour. In fact I now have 5 Kayfuns so I guess you could say I am a big fan!!

I don't have the Lemo ripperkipper but I do coil using Ni200 in my goblin mini wicked with Muji cotton. I have found that too much cotton will mute the flavour. I use a 2.5mm former 6 to 7 loose wraps which usually comes out at .15 on my istick 40.
