Not every kid who wears a hoody is a yob, but the troublemakers who are always seem to have one on for some reason. They obviously think they're invisible if they put the hood up.

My son has 2 hoodies, one for swimming club and one for another youth group he belongs to. They both have his name on the back, can't see him getting in much trouble wearing them, lol!

All three of these were wearing hoodies..... says it all really. Look on his face when he was checking behind him as I was lumoxing down the road was priceless, he looked seriously scared, as so he should be. Their logic in picking my car was fairly cracked, everything is inbuilt in my car so I don't have any devices, since CSI have left I had a good check and therre is nothing missing. Even my Bluetooth gizmo in my centre console is still there, so in fact they broke in, now have their prints on record and all for what..... nothing.

I blame a lot of the behavior on what I call "the coffee table culture" When I was a child, if I did something wrong I was punished and dealt with. My parents neighbors also wouldn't think twice in rep-remanding me and informing my parents of my wrong doing. At which point my parents would question me and I would be punished again if found in the wrong. The coffee table culture by my view is this, a small child running around the living room falls over and bumps his head or whatever on the coffee table, once the child feels better the parent then blames the coffee table for getting in the child's way. To me that teaches the child that it's not his fault that he can't run straight or stay upright, it's the inanimate object that suddenly jumped into the child's line of movement. Basically teaching them their mistakes aren't their own, but can be blamed on something else. That behavior seems to continue into later life with the minority, if they want it they can have it because it's not their fault they don't have it already, it's someone else's fault. If they aren't taught to respect the property of the home, how do you expect them to respect someone else's. We all got up to stuff when we were kid's, that's all part of growing up, learning boundary's etc. Just some people don't realize there is a boundary at all. (I know this is a simplistic view and theres a lot more complex issues invloved but we gotta start somewhere ) As for the getting into trouble when you deal with them, well we all know that's a bloody stupid law. I'd carry that suit in your manbag

Well said Jem... When I was young, if I got a row from a neighbour there would be no way I would go home and tell my parents, even if I didn't think I'd done anything wrong. If an adult had given me a row for something, my parents just pressumed that I was guilty. Now, give someone else's child a row and you get the wrath of the parents on you. Just teaches the spoiled so and so's that they are always right. I remember one paremt telling me about 10 years ago that they 'couldn't stop little oink from going into the corner shop and stealing'! Little oink was 6, ffs ??? He ended up in care It's all quite sad (and frightening) really ???

Touch wood everyone knows each other in my area , the majority of us older guys still have a pretty good friends network , so generally speaking if any of the D*** heads cause grief it can usually be sorted down one of the many back alleys we have in Corrie land

Sorry to hear about this mate, hope you're all ok...
But it's funny you should mention defending yourself, your property etc, and being done for taking the law into your own hands because I was having a similar debate the other day with somebody.
**Rant warning**
It all started when I watched the video, in the news last week, of the dog attacking the police, who took a long time to get it under control, but after getting it under control, instead of sedating it, or keeping it under control and putting it in a dog van, they proceeded to execute it on the street, by shooting it.
Now regardless of what I think of the dog, or it's owners for that matter (don't get me started) the police seemed to have already had the dog under control before executing it, which in my opinion, was only done as a punishment for what the dog had done, a callous act of revenge on an animal, for hurting their own. My problem with this is that the police aren't employed to carry out punishments, and if we'd done the same thing ourselves, to a dog, cat, or even person, we'd be arrested and charged. One argument is that they killed the animal in the interest of public safety, which would have held ground had they not already got the animal under control before executing it. Another aggravating factor is that the police had been contacted regarding the dog previously, but weren't interested, the life of the dog could have been saved, as well as injuries to police officers prevented.
I'm gonna stop there...
/rant
Sorry

I agree with your rant alvo, don't be sorry. It's absolutely despicable to say the least. The only reason a dog will attack is because it's been trained to attack by 'human' beings, it's not the dogs fault. That's all I'm saying about it too because once I start on a subject like this I don't know when to stop, it makes my blood boil. >
