I would like to pay tribute to the many courageous men and women who have and continue to make the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country. My own personal tributes go to my Uncle Sid who fell on the beaches in Normandy, my Uncle Eric a P.O.W for 3 years in Changi. My thoughts on this most moving of days will also be going to the many millions of horses, mules, dogs, carrier pigeons, canaries and other animals who have been an essential part of many war efforts - not least for the companionship they have given to their humans during desperate times.
