Finally got my hands on this elusive Boots Glycerine. Only it was 99p for 200 ml and the label on the bottle has changed colour. www.boots.com/en/Boots-Value-Health-Glycerin-B-P-200ml_852418/Edit: Resized piccy: Been reading up on making aqueous glycerine by adding 20% water and griz's guide talks about trying to collect condensation from steam generated by boiling water which is distilled water. Many others recommend another easily available source which is deionized water ie., water that has been purified by passing through a resin filter which is also used for filling lead acid batteries. Which water do the experienced mixers here use to make aqueous glycerine? Distilled or de-ionized?

Try the ice from your freezer/freezer compartment in the fridge. It should be deionised/distilled enough.

Thanks for the suggestion Dom..
But I doubt that freezing water removes the salts..

I'm using deionised at 20% at the mo may try at 15% next batch for better viscosity

Thanks for the suggestion Dom.. But I doubt that freezing water removes the salts.. Actually it does (think polar ice caps and glaciers) - though you need to remember that the ice in your fridge comes from atmospheric moisture, which is salt free (basically it is a gentle way of making solid distilled water). ETA I don't mean ice cubes made from tap water, I mean the stuff that builds up between defrosts.

If you think about how it got there (from freezing out moisture in the air) then it is basically the same process as condensing steam from a boiling kettle - so yes, it is distilled. You can always make more by sticking your head in the freezer and breathing

I use the stuff from Halford's if the Vodka bottle is empty. But if you're adding it to a PG nicotine base, you'll need barely any, if indeed any at all dilutant Macca . . . just depends what you intend adding it to.

I would have thought you need to boil water and re condense to achieve distillation..
Anyhoo, I will buy some de-ionized water from Halfrauds and try.

I am planning to use PG 75-VG 25 based Nic but many seem to recommend using aqueous glycerine (80% glycerol-20% distilled/deionized water) than using it straight. I'll try it your way too..

You'll have your flavouring as well Macca, which is most likely to be in a PG base, so that will also make your mix more fluid . . . but as with all things vaping, it's worth trying a few combo's to see what best suits your taste and style of vaping. Have fun, hope you get the mixing bug.

Boiling is faster, but evaporation does the same job. 'Condensing' is merely providing conditions to get the moisture laden gas below its dew point. I would say trust me, I'm a chemist, but you seem to want to give your money to Halfords

I mean I had to get through the BV stuff somehow right? I am after consistency..You buy the same stuff from the same supplier and bam!..They taste and vape completely different..

it can be bought from Tesco too £1.49 for 2.5l which seems a good price and much less hassle than distilling it yourself ...i personally use vodka, makes mixing sessions more fun
