The world is a very dark place at the moment, so any excuse to remember happier times is OK with me. Have just read a review about XFactor going down the tubes, and a mention of Opportunity Knocks from the 60s, with Hughie Green (who I could have smacked in much the same way as Simon Cowell now)... but it reminded me of this young lady who did not need raunchy costumes or half naked dancers around her. OK the 60s was my era, and may not appeal to many on here, but I hope it brings back some happy memories to those of you in my age group, as I've remembered a lot just by listening again. A quote from one of the comments on the video... "Love your life right where you are! These are the days when we'll be saying later on, "those were the days". So true.

Must admit yesterday morning at 6.30 I thought... 'WTF am I doing?'Good job that I'm not Prime Minister, couldn't make a decision to save my life... although they're talking of snow soon, so that may hasten the act!

I still have the first 45 I ever bought. From 1960Loved Bobby Vee My first was Michael Holliday's 'Story Of My Life', after conning my parents into buying a record player, which they didn't want to!

lobeydosser... you've flippin started something now... listened to your link and it's now taking me to all the music I grew up with. Plus the whisky I'm consuming it is all making me very emotional... or as Greg would say... 'soppy old git'... but I'm enjoying it.

Tell me about this historical period - the "sixties", you call it? Was there free love? because that sounds ideal for a cold Monday night.

djs... I was never into the 'happy pills etc' around then, but the sixties was a magical time (looking back) when everything was possible. War was still in the memory, but over, and everyone was looking for a better way of life, with total freedom. The new music scene was exploding and giving us all an expression of our own identity. Pure innocence and love of life. They say if you remember the 60s you weren't there... but I do, and it was great. I just hope future generations get to experience what I did back then. 'This too, will pass'...
