with the v1 rba you might get away with a silica build like in a kayfun.

Do you think thats the best way or would it work if i made a coil then pulled the cord through it, only ask as i thing the coil would be made a lot better if i use a coil winder rather than me just wrapping it round the cord.

I have a feeling if you don't like the feel of cotton, rayon will be the same but worse. I can't touch the stuff without it giving me the shivers. Bit like the feeling you get when digging fingernails into the fabric they use on bus seats... It squeaks when you pull it tight through a coil. Horrible stuff if you ask me. Plus it made me feel I'll when I vaped it. Saying that I don't mind the feel of normal cotton so maybe you'll get on with rayon, everyone's different I guess. Good luck finding a solution Would be worth trying sillica or eco wool. Also stainless steel mesh might be worth looking into. No idea how they would be in a subtank rba though as not tried those

You can pull the silica through, I used to use a piece of wire to pull a 'U' shaped piece of silica through the coil like a needle and thread. The down side of this method however is you need to get the coil dia meter spot on so the silica is neither too tight or it will give problems getting it in or too loose and it will give you dry hits.

First off thanks to all who have answered my sad call for help I now have a plan of attack i will be getting a small amount of rayon and silica wick in the week to do some trials with, i will also at the same time try the damp cotton idea i first had. Hopefully one or more of these will work out for me if not its back to stocking up on pre-made coils, i do have a good stock 25 (i think) pre made ones as it is so its not a panic for me just yet. But i would like to be able to make my own at some point, not just from the cost point i just feel it would be nice, and future proof myself a little as we still don't know whats going to happen next yr. Again thanks to all who have given me input and ideas

if you wanted to wet cotton with juice but didnt want to waste good juice you could always wet it with unflavoured no nic vg which is reasonably cheap. you could vape straight away. the only downside is that the first few draws would be tasteless.
which ever way you decide on i hope you get it sorted.
enjoy

Wet the cotton as you originally said then just give it a quick blast with a hairdryer. It'll be dry in a couple of seconds

Is this a phobia or an allergy @broadblaster If it is a phobia then rayon will feel much the same, if it's an allergy then it should be no problem. its a phobia of sorts i just hate the feel of it very very stupid and daft i know a man of my age freaked out by cotton wool. I just tried to have a play with the stuff that comes with the mini subtank and no way can i touch that stuff It`s not that unusual, my ex brother in law used to have the same thing if he ever touched the filter on a ciggy. He would often ask someone else to take the first one out of a new packet for him

@broadblaster only just seen this thread so sorry for late reply.
I am exactly the same as you about cotton, it puts my teeth on edge, as you say a bit like squeaking chalk on a blackboard, especially when pulling the cotton apart.
However, I am using the muji pads of cotton which you cut into strips, and I tell you what.....I can handle that cotton perfectly ok. Now give me those cotton balls to pull apart and there is no way I can handle them!!
So just go ahead and buy a small pack of the muji cotton pads and try them out. If I can do it I'm sure you can.
