Hello all I hope somebody will be able to help. My friend has a Kanger subtank that is gurgling, flooding and not creating much vapour. he has tried recoiling it and new coils, cleaning but no difference. Could any of you kind people help point him in the right direction please. Thank you..................Sue

Sounds like he is not using enough wick and he is also probably vaping at to lower wattages for the coil to vaporise the juice.

Is he using the right coils for the subtank?
It sounds obvious but no matter how many wrong sized new ones he fits, he wont fix the prob.
Also check the o-ring at the base of the coil is fitted and not nicked and the seat on the bottom plate is smooth where the o-ring sits. Check the chimney where it mates with the coil housing too for cracks or dents. If it has been overtightened they can get chewed-up.

tell him to try another coil and check the seals, it could be a bad coil or two it could be the coil wicks are out of place (they should cover the holes).
how old is his subtank, it could be its become damaged with age or if its new that its faulty.
not much experience with them although i'm getting one for xmas I tried it out to make sure it worked as expected (which it did)

Is he sucking instead of inhaling, especially if he has it set on minimum airflow? That would cause the juice to flood the coil.

I only use kangatech subtanks now and so I had all these problems. At present all are behaving. The one thing that I found cured all the above problems is (sounds daft I know but bear with me) when you fit the wick do not bend it up and cut it flush with the top of the chimney as youtube shows but without the chimney on cut the wick about 1/8 of an inch beyond the base.Push the wick up to fit the chimney then work the ends through the holes in the chimney. If you can imagine the wick coming out of the coil as arms you must not get a bend in the elbow or wrist so just give a little pull on the ends to make it staight. This in every case stopped my leaking problems

Either side of the deck are 2 little shelves which when the chimney is on form the juice well. The wick should come out of the coil and then face directly down onto these shelves. Like this - When you look down into the chimney with the top unscrewed, you should be able to see a bit of light coming through the juice holes. This lets the juice run into the wells correctly and the downward facing wicks mop the juice up.

This is the new style RBA. It has 2 juice holes one either side of the chimney.

The old style chimney also used to screw in whereas the new one clamps down with the little screw you can see in the pic.

Both my subtanks crackle and gurgle a bit until the coil settles in, my guess is he's not wicking it right as the only leak I've ever had was when I didn't put enough wick in, the wick needs to be snug fit in the coil, then I cut it the width of the tank, fluff it out, fold it up to put the cap on, then gently tuck it down fluffing it out and making sure the two air holes are completely covered, if he's using cotton pads make sure to take at least the top layer off so he can fluff it out better, I now only use Cotton Bacon for that reason, it's a bit more fiddly to get the right amount for the wick but as I said as long as it's not too tight or to loose in the coil he should be ok! as for no Vapor I think he's probably at too low watts, I always used to vape at 8w to 12w, I don't know about others here but my subtanks need at least 20w, now I vape between 25w and 30w for the best taste and Vapor that suits me,,

Just an addy! thats all pressuming it's the new RBA he's using and not the old one,,

I'm fairly new to Subtanks, but not to coiling and wicking. All the advice given above agrees with my experiences so far; not enough wick, and too low a power rating to properly vapourise the juice would seem to be the most obvious answers, as well as checking for O rings properly seated and no damage to the chimney in the tank. Let us know if our suggestions work, otherwise we'll think again!

Andy! a couple of friends switched to subtanks after trying mine, both complained about little vapor plus crackling and gurgling, in both cases they were vaping between 8w and 12w, when I checked both were under wicked, I re-wicked them and cranked them up to 25w and neither have had a problem since, I think part of the problem is the scary jump in watts, most of my other kit gets to taste a bit burnt around 13w so when I first got my subtank I vaped around 12w and wondered why it wasn't as good as everyone said thinking that jumping up to 25+watts would definatly taste burnt, then I Youtubed it and found that 25+w was normal for subbing, I don't think people realise normal vaping and subbing are worlds apart and you need to relearn the way you vape, a bit like another post where you see them blowing massive clouds but they have no idea what coil they have or the battery's'

Sue! even he he dosn't like forums get him to join this one, the advice here is second to none and like a few others it's not a competition here to see who has the latest or best kit, it's all about helping everyone from the virgin vapor to the advanced, I'd still be stuck on my cig-a-like if it wasn't for this lot, and they will advise on anything from basic starter kits to the hope you have deep pockets stuff,,
