My Evic VT mini is fried.

Vaped fine last night.
Picked it up today battery was flat.
Put new battery in went to make a brew.
Came back to it picked it up and it was red hot.
Thought Id put the battery in wrong but was correctly fitted.
Tried another battery same again.
Bit gutted TBH.
Ive now got to try and remember which vendor I bought it off.
But as it was only £20 I dont think I can be arsed to send it back.

i would be tempted to void any warranty and have a look see for a loose wire etc..

need to take the board of the battery holder but it means desoldering some contacts.

Welp. As a fellow evic vtc mini owner and fan, I am sad to hear this.

May I ask how old the device was, I presume it came from China?

yep china sourced, just checking my emails to trace who exactly.
Ive had it a couple of months tops.
And in that time ive only used it exclusively for about a week with some occasional daily use since.
So in the real world its only done about a fortnights service in that time.

maybe the clones all have a bad chip that's defective hence why there all so cheap, of course its also possible the problem is liquid build up in the mod depending on the air temp and how hot it gets when in use, condensate could of caused all kinds of problems including the cheap glue they use becoming acidic and eating away insulation

I fully expect this is because the empire is planning to resurrect itself and is getting all its clones in order but some have defective chips and go bad early ....

I'm sure phtumshk has checked that it is a genuine model.

After some delving in me junk mail folder it was from Efuntop.
And stated as being

So I presume it is as they are usually up front if its a clone.

After finally breaking it all down it appears to be a dodgy capacitor of some sorts.
Its got hot enough to melt the plastic tab holding the screen in place.

Warranty voided what am I to do.

Thats right, Im blowing £50 on putting 1 of these in the case.

When you were using it, was it mostly in temp mode or wattage mode, and what kind of power were you putting through it.
