After some delving in me junk mail folder it was from Efuntop. And stated as being So I presume it is as they are usually up front if its a clone. The box should come with this sticker: Also, good look with the mod

Just out of curiosity phtumshk When you were using it, was it mostly in temp mode or wattage mode, and what kind of power were you putting through it. Ive dabbled with TC briefly (about 4 hours lol) but mostly Im a A1 sunday driver with 1 to 1.2 Ohms at about 11 or 12watts.

Was just curious if it was a failure due to really pushing it in one mode or another. Wonder if its a random failure or part of a bad batch.

blowing a solid state component is rare, and could indicate an err in the spec, however if this was the case i would expect it to be a way more common occurrence. I suspect that there was a weakness in one of the soldered connections at the root of this but am neither qualified to state or back up such a claim.. fwiw my evic mini has had daily use in TC NI mode since its arrival a few weeks back and has been dropped thrown and generally abused by daily vaping while out n about, even went skidding accross a road after i went AoT attempting to catch a bus, both my glasses and knee got fecked the evic mini however is fine and the paintwork has impressed me with its resilience.. i feel for your loss phtumshk , and applaud the rejuvenation plan, tho in your shoes i think i would splurge a further £25 on a replacement too. next to my dna200 and vt40 my evic mini is my daily vape tool.. I was gonna get a red un, but am now considering dull gold or grey as im luvving the hand feel, performance, versatility, and the easy to see big display.. ** edit ps ive upgraded mine to V2 of the s/w so it fires @ 75w when in TC mode.

Just to clarify it wasnt my intentions to cloud the rep of the VT mini. It is a solid, very well built mod. Would I buy another? most definitely. Thanks for the input fellas.

In before we get called the evic vtc fan boys! No need to clarify, I was just shocked it failed. Mine has had a beating, used in Ti, Ni and Wattage mode and is still going strong. Good luck with the mod, I would love to see how it turns out.

didnt think it was evic mini knocking, tho your instance is due a fair bit of criticism for failing on you in the first place, imho its still worth an email/ticket you may get a favorable result.. I would argue your ability to ID the failed component makes you qualified to dismantle without voiding the warranty in spirit, especially since it was stripped After failing!

No apology necessary phtumshk I reckon you have every right to be aggrieved. It should have lasted a lot lot longer than it did. Its just a pity that the warranty offered on these mods along with the cheap price make it more of a disposable commodity than anything.
I should add that I have one myself, bought from China (Gearbest) and have been reasonably happy with it so far. My only issue is that it reads the resistance of everything I put on it a little high. Kanthal builds have been roughly 0.05 ohms high and nickel temp coils 0.03 ohms high. Consistently. Not much in the scheme of things but still a touch high.

I will be emailing them to see what they say none the less. But i was just having a poke at that cap scraping at the scorched bits and its fallen off. if i could only identify its specs it would be a doddle to solder a new 1 back on. there probably only a few pence to buy.

Nothing is fail proof, not even Evolv, YiHi or ProVape and surface mount capacitors are not the hardiest of components, when YiHi were changing the wires for a special order of the SX350J for the Cloudmaker Whiteout YiHi had a 25% fail rate from overheating caps.

Do you know much about caps VapingBad ? Ive been having a quick look on the web and can only seem to find them by sizes rather than any other specs. If they only go by the size I could probably source a new cap (I have a bag of frazzeled boards so I could most likely find a suitable used 1 at home). Or am I being electro-naive.

Not much about surface mount ones, I did a couple of Lab seasons and reports specifically on capacitors at Uni in another life, but you will get a range of values for each physical size and as they are not the smallest sm components the physical size due to the rating. You need to know the capacitance and the voltage rating to select one, but once know the capacitance you can probably select by size. There is a fair bet it is the same values as the ones next to it, can you see any numbers printed on them.

I wonder if theres some higher quality capacitors that can be used like with high end audio hardware, pcs etc, they recommend panasonic ones and have seen gold plated ones too, although those are much larger ones but maybe they do smaller ones that would fit these dimensions.
