I'm after a table that plays's bloody records, sounds good with half decent speakers , which means I may require an amp as well , I've spent about 30 hrs online so far looking at the options , and style comes into it as does, it has to have a cover, has to, so the project stuff with it's humming can take a walk.

Basically with some research you'll get an old amp and speakers from eBay for say £100 that will beat any iPod dock Turntable in other words, if you get one with a worn or poor quality needle and without adjustment (tracking force) you'll just ruin the vinyl you will be collecting VapingBad is into his hi if and vinyl...

Not after an iPod dock, I'm after a record player for mainly , i.e. 99.9% of the time playing 33.3albums, still I don;t have 2 years to make up my mind so I'll go to the shop tomorrow and see what they got? I'm not into this audiophile business, a 100 quid record player would sound better than what `i have at the mo, and that's not too bad, a 100 grand car is not ten times better than a ten grand car and never will be.

Was playing an album today and I could tell by the sound that the needle had a lot of debris on it, Mrs, not a clue, she had no idea, and that's with the cheapest of the cheap, where just removing dust makes it sound a whole lot better.

I love my old 1980s JVC turntable, amp and cd player . Model DR-E45L. It has been a hell of a system for me for 15 years or so, and my borther used it for about 10 years before that!
It's a sad sign of the ties that modern turntables just don't cut it against many of the older models. although the turntable is in storage at my mothers, I'm still looking for spare belts and needles in order to keep it running as long as my ears will work.
Got so many classic albums on vinyl, Alice cooper, Billy connoly to name a few, and some are irreplacable.
Anyways, an old high quality 80s deck is the way to go if you can source spares for them.
