I love it, takes me back to those teenage years, god they were shit lol I only have a Steepletone cd radio and record player all in one or three machine lol but hell for me you can't beat the experience of putting on a record/ album because 45's are a right pain in the ass, i don't currently have any, that's the small 7 inch records kiddies, i.e. singles or 1 track/song each side. yeah this is a bit of a ramble, hey that's me, i have about 50/60 albums at the moment, of all sorts mainly rock but have reggae classic country jazz you name it. SOOOO excited have just ordered one of my all time faves from way back when Tommy by the awesome The Who, Re released edition and also The Latest ELO album of which you get the mp3 straight to amazon music when you buy it, can't go wrong with that.
Last weekend well on the fri we had delivered Adele's latest 25 She's looking good for her age eh? which was pretty cool cost 10 quid 1 cd, for the mrs, and i had ordered Eva Cassidy's nightbird, cost £9.99 2 cd + a DVD Brilliant Album, everybody should have this and it would make an awesome present for anyone, honestly it is the first time I have ever thought over the rainbow sounded good!! RIP babes.
Ok where too now, well I obviously need a better player, but they seem pretty hard to come by these days, can't think why lol shit loads of generic to mp3 stuff, well mine does that if you wanted it too, but I need one that you can stack 45's on with an auto arm and pause etc, c'mon you youngsters any suggestions, without spending a fortune. A year or two ago we did pickup a second hand, obviously stacking system with glass front and top, top glass broke, ooop's but the belt had gone and was obvious when playing a disc, so we got rid.
Ideas?

I'd forget one where you can stack the records, it'll just ruin your vinyl. Head to Richer Sounds in Preston and have a look at an entry level turntable instead, like a Project.

If the last two Adele albums are anything to go by it isn't worth buying anything, they where produced terribly What's your budget? Forget auto arm and pause. I'll be looking at a rega turntable, marantz amp, Wharfedale or monitor audio speakers. what hi if If you go back a year or so to look for discounts, the marantz PM6004 and rega Rp1 are great kit for the money.

I don't mind Adele, have 19 & 21 and think she's a great singer song writer, I meant it's produced so badly it disappoints on a decent hi if... Audio geeks chatting

fwiw i got myself a Rega 'Planet' off ebay a while back for the bargain price of £50. I sat down with a few beers 'n pals for a vinyl session and ended up cringing at every pop crackle and skip from my 40+yr old collection.
I was gutted, donkeys years of cd and lossless digital music formats had spoilt me, there may well have been greater depth to the sound but all the drunken/stoned mishaps which have left my vinyl collection scarred with scratches n skips pops n crackles resulted in a cringefest of disappointment. To the extent i now regard my 5ft of album shelf space as 'object d'art' and a visual record of (bad?) musical taste of my teens/early 20's FULL STOP..
