I am looking for a new laptop to replace my Dell studio which is 8 years old and slowing down. Having read horrendous reviews about the after sales of both Dell and PC World I bought an HP from John Lewis. They sent the wrong one (white instead of silver) they had no stock of silver so I decided to keep it. It turned out to be faulty so I am faced with a 60 mile round trip to York to return it. In addition to being faulty it was even slower than my old Dell. The HP was i5 processor and 8gb Ram so I thought I was getting a fast machine.
So my question is which laptop and where to buy it. Budget £400 ish size 13”-15”
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I used to follow the yearly reliability ratings provided by independent analysts, not the brands themselves.
Last time around, Lenovo and Asus were high up the list. I have both, both are good. However, they come with extraordinary amounts of bloatware which needs to be removed. Get that off and things tend to run very well.
My family i5 runs slower than my personal i3. Both use 64bit and have 4gb ram. The i3 Lenovo now has an SSD... pretty sharp.
