Copied from the Smok Mini site :- The default temperature sensing coil material is Nickel 200. Titanium and Stainless Steel Coil are optional for an additional charge. Customers who desire them can purchase and active by our mobile application.

Thanks for that greigster, seems a bit unfair by Smok to limit you to Nickel unless you pay up, lesson learnt I should read full description.
I have been reading that Nickel is unsafe ? do you mind giving me your opinions on this

Yea the larger xcube 2 needed you to register then pay for the upgrade which came to about $1 which is not bad but some people couldnt always get the app to connect well, I think with a new-ish phone it might work better. I saw on pbusardos latest vid of the xcube mini that he didnt mention having to upgrade though, was thinking maybe they did away with that, seems they probs don't make much profit really at $1 a pop and just adds the extra hassle.
At the moment alot of people are recommending stainless steel for temp control quite a bit as its an easier wire to work with than nickel and is supposed to not be unsafe if used in power mode unlike nickel. Theres a few types of stainless steel wire though usually 316L or 317L so not sure which one the mod will be more accurate to use but you can also change the tcr in the mod to make it more accurate.

I dont have a very recent phone so I had probs with the software for the Xcube2 but found it worked fine with a Bluetooth4 dongle on my Android TVbox. I also think it is crappy to expect people to pay for the wire upgrades although not expensive. It is possible to use SS on the Xcube2 on the nickel setting at a low temperature setting. It is not really a "low" temperature, it is just the same perceived heat that you get on a mod with SS wire settings. On two different mods, I couldn`t tell the difference in vape quality and taste using that method. The SS wire does seem to be more trustworthy mentally, not sure whether that is scientifically correct. It is easier to work with for sure. I was using a pair of SS coils in a Magma dripper for over a month on the Xcube2 on nickel setting. Both the coils AND the cotton wicks were still fine after a weekly rinse and dry. The wick was still white inside the coil apart from some staining from the tobacco eliquid that I use as my ADV
