I have been a bit concerned about the trend to pull multi batteries out of mods by pulling on the fitted ribbon. I have come to the conclusion that it`s a bad and probably dangerous thing to do. If you have a multi battery mod of any make or model that has a ribbon fitted for battery removal this is the kind of damage that will PROBABLY occur over time. There are increasing stories about mods being damaged by shorts, especially multi battery mods that have a ribbon fitted for "easy" removal. What happens when you use it is that you are DRAGGING the battery past bit`s of plastic and positive connections in the battery cradle that will inevitably cause this kind of damage. It is happening in XCUBEs, IPV4s etc and now possibly the Wismec three battery mod in the pic below.
The facts about the pic above are not yet clear but could well have been caused by the insulation around the top of a battery getting damaged. IPV4s are known to have bits of plastic broken off and Xcubes are known to have had shorts in the battery cradle because of insulation damage at the positive end.
Personally I dont take any chances with this anymore. I have removed the ribbons from my mods or simply cut them off with scizzors. To remove batteries now I just use the reverse of putting them in, press the battery down on the negative spring and ease the top of the battery out without allowing it to rub on parts of the battery cradle.
It`s an unnecessary risk and your battery insulation will remain intact.

With my x cube I use the ribbon to lift the battery just enough to get hold of the end then push down on the spring to remove. I've had concerns about ripped wraps myself. Although I am very anal about wraps and rewrap a battery at the slightest sign of a nick

If I have a mod where I cant get the batterys out quick smart I wrap some tape round the battery and stick the 2 ends together to form a tag. Its easier then to push down and pull the battery out in regular service or to just rip em out pronto in an emergency.

Yeah i nailed a couple in the Xcube before realising what was happening, now i just remove them by pressing down against the negative spring and lift the positive out.

It is lucky this thread has not got out of hand and slipped into crude innuendo.
