I'll through a few more into the mix... Banshee - kinda ultra-macho small town america deal, lasted four seasons with added gratuitous violence. Da-Vinci's Demons - a bit up itself but a hoot and, ekk, with added gore. Utopia - clever, dark, fun, clockwork-orange type violence. Lasted two of the three planned series and a hard stop mid story. Recently on Sky - You, Me And The Apocalypse - hilarious and, oh yes, dark in places. Less vino.

james10 the Tudors Vikings black sails Spartacus Whitechapel arrow Constantine luther ripper street rome the Borgias heros justified some of the ones I found enjoyable along with the ones you listed as having already watched. p.s. did you also think the ending of the final series of SOA should have been finished with them all dying ? I've finished Luther, enjoyed it. Couldn't stomach Heroes although our lass liked it. Out of the others, which was your favourite and why? Spartacus was probably best because it was so funny and gory at the same time, some bits definitely make you feel ill if you just eaten a bucket might be needed, Vikings again has a few seriously gory bits and you get to learn about an eagle ...... the Borgias was good because it paints early politics in all its corruption flawlessly (which is why the Vatican had their production license revoked before the final season was made) the others all have thought provoking funny /gory parts and are generally enjoyable to watch imo I also found hero's to be rather junk after the 3rd series but I watched them all anyway just for completeness besides I had nothing else to watch for a few days and it was free

My shortlist at the minute is: Narcos Gotham Sparticus And I saw a trailer with Sawyer from Lost in it so ill have to watch that at some point.

I forgot that one on my list Geordie, don't know how. Even tried watching it a second time but didn't really work. Have you seen Six Feet Under? (Taking the chance that you are a Newcastle fan?)

Sounds good, have you seen the season with Fareel with a dodgy tache yet? What did you make of it? Too soon to judge - I'm only on the third episode (I tend not to gift myself that much TV time) - so far I'm enjoying it, although it's very different to the first series.

+1 for: Utopia The Wire (Charlie Brooker calls "Love Hate" the Irish Wire and I would recommend that to) House of Cards (good, but not not everybodies cup of char) Fargo (not like the film, very british sense of humour, I'm just 1/2 way through season 2) Game of Thrones Sopranos
And would add Deadwood (2 out of 3 planned series, brilliant dark and funny, takes 2-3 episodes to get going) Outlander (to watch with the Mrs)
I found Vikings and Orphan Black started well but went down hill on the 2nd series and are carried by the actors, even more so for Black Sails, Hell On Wheels and Spartacus.
