Swegway dilemma

Bought our son a swegway for xmas and all was well until today when trading standards recalled them all,we purchased it online after reading all reviews on the site all sounded good. heavy duty samsung battery uk plug to british standards etc etc etc,paid via paypal but not through ebay so should get money back,however before the companys facebook site was taken down the problem was with the charger.........So would you purchase a legit charger and hope nothing happens......they have sold thousands and not had any problems so far........we have also spent all day trying to get another one but everywhere sold out

the problem is the batteries and there is no safe charger, they put no protective circuitry into the device

if you use it rather than getting your money back your likely to loose a big chunk of your building when its on charge as the batteries undergo thermal runaway and either induce a flaming inferno or just go boom.

the design of the units is faulty not the chargers although they don't help matters, they don't actually provide a high enough amperage to be "dodgy".

my advice would be demand a refund via paypal and look for something else/

This is an awful dilemma River, only you can decide, but if I was in the same position and I had to decide , I would not let my child anywhere near it, even if the odds were 100,000 to 1 of it causing an issue.

I echo what nanotm. A friend purchased one off Amazon and got a refund due to the fire / legal issues. Sadly they are illegal for use on public road / pavements: www.cps.gov.uk/legal/p_to_r/road_traffic_offences/#dot

Anyways River if theres a call back on items i would send back but thats me
and try find something else but i can see these fading out fast as police
are clamping down on use of these in streets
