Velocity inspiration requested!!

Hi all,
I have my X Cube with a pair of fresh batteries, a cleaned out and empty Velocity clone, and my mixing box of various gauges of Kanthal and Nickel.

What would you build for a good flavour, and some clouds? I don't want to get into Claptons or seriously twisty stuff, although I have twisted Kanthal before and would be happy to try it with the Nickel.

Your thoughts would be appreciated, along with details of gauge of wire, ID of coil and number of wraps. I haven't tried TC but would be tempted to give it a go!

SO hit me with your ideas on a good build!!

While I'm waiting, I have popped in two x 8-wrap 3mm coils with .5mm Kanthal, and running them in at 45w I must say that my Clear Storm (5% mix) has taken on a completely new dimension!
With 24 views so far, this must have tempted someone to give me their thoughts!!

chykensa I too have only just received a Velocity RDA, so am not in a position to offer any advice yet! .... but will be interested to see what others have to suggest.

Quad coil Adamantine fussed Claptons?


I not done much with mine, there is one build here that can sustain 100 W @ 400 F, but I would go for something like dual 10 wrap twisted 0.25 mm Ni around 2 mm wicks if the XCube can run 0.05 ohm coils. It is nice and easy to work with and thinner wicks let it heat quicker.

I'd say you won't go far wrong with what you're doing already. Personally I wouldn't bother with nickel in a dripper as I don't feel there is much benefit apart from being able to vape your wicks dry. I like my velocity with dual claptons at about .3 ohms at about 70 watts.

I went fancy on my Velocity clone - Fused Clapton 2x26AWG Anarchist wire wrapped with 34AWG NiCrome80. Dual coils came out to 0.14 so run it on a parallel box mod. It's a beast. More coil will give you more vapour and flavour. Try twisting some 30AWG Ni200 on a 3mm ID for dual coils if you want to go temp control.

I absolutley loved my velocity mini clone. Amazing flavour...and silly cloudage optional!

However i rather embarassingly gathered it up in a load of vape rags and rubbish etc and lobbed it in the bin!!! Indidnt realise till 2 or 3 days after. Bin men had already been lol. Yes...im a plonker.

I'm loving a dual vertical clapton build with a single wick in the velocity, comes in at 0.35 and is a dream to drip through the centre without having to look

My only tip would be to raise the coils as much as possible, this allows less air to scim off the top and dilute some flavour.

Bish you are a plonker. Be honest now, those werent VAPE rags..

I have done that myself, but only with my favourite SS driptip - you're right though, you don't half feel a plonker when you do it!

Reckon I'm the only one here who don't like the Velocity!....
Admittedly, I've only tried it wiv vert. coils & mesh, but I found it so harsh (AFC just cracked open) or flavour-less (AFC opened up).
Have n't put it up on 'Wheel of Fortune' yet 'cos I like the post design.....will be Dremel-ing a spare plastic Igo W cap to fit 'cos I think it's the really thin cap that's giving Me the aggro.....

Too me the deck is a blessing, easiest to build on by far especially in all these new Rtas, BUT I have to agree with you the velocity rda isn't the best out there, if I put a fused clapton or something in it which needs the holes pretty much wide open I don't get the flavour, I'd I put a standard 7wrap 24awg I have too close the airflow to almost nothing to get a decent flavour and it still isn't how I want it, my aromamiser and crius put out more flavour personally..

the helios top cap fits if you wrap some cotton under the o rings to make them stick out a little further or use slightly bigger o rings (on a mission to find some tomoz lol)
