You have my sympathies, RangersBillyBoy - despite being full-time for our beloved Cornwall Council for many years, until three years ago HMRC decided I still needed to complete a Self-Assessment Form, and this ultimately resulted in my gaining a small rebate.
Fortunately now I have a new employer this seems to be a thing of the past, but I know what a ballache it is to complete.

I've got a wonderful ex client who has done it all for me for the previous 7 years. The lady works in the industry. Sadly this year due to personal circumstances the best offer is inputting the data I provide.

On the plus side or would appear my tax bill will be acceptable. Just as well as I need some vaping stuff and I can't justify charging the business.

1st time in years i did mine way in advance, its 1/2 a day of digging through not so well filed paperwork thats way too easy to put off till the last moment (jan 30th last year hehe)

Only thing i have on the worry plate this january is the impending MOT on the 18yr old motor..

I would recommend getting next years sorted mid April this year, the lack of its worry is quite refreshing post new year celebrations..

I feel your pain RangersBillyBoy ... for the first time in ages I got mine in reasonably early (for me), early December... and got a small rebate back very quickly, although that only covered a third of my accountant's invoice, but at least I didn't have to fill in the damn forms.

No way would I attempt it myself plus a professional can find many different 'expenses' that I would not have claimed for...

I always tell myself to get it done mid April. I always fail.
Previous years "here you go (boxes worth of records) just let me know the damage".
This year "hello real world!"

However digging through records has unearthed a surprise. In one of my receipt boxes I've found a brand new boxed Kanger sub tank. 1.2 coil on 17.5 watts. Odd as usually I'm using TFV4 at 95watts. This brings back happy memories.

I think it's really important that your day care centre let you pretend you work.
'Completing' a tax return is good for your rehabilitation.

As for tax returns, I dread doing them every year, but I do try to get them out of the way asap.

Last year, due to a lot of expenses, I only had to pay income tax for the first 6 months. But of course, this year they want more up front, due to that

I used to run a business a long time ago. So bloody glad im paye now. No more chasing bad payers etc.
