Hi all I'm just about to attempt a first mix of Castle Long Clone (v1). I have all the TFA ingredients the recipe calls for (below) except the Bourbon Vanilla . What I do have though is Capella French Vanilla and Capella Simply Vanilla. Is it possible to substitute one of these vanilla's for the Bourbon Vanilla (and will it make much difference to the taste of the finished juice) ?
Castle Long (v1) 2.5% Kentucky Bourbon 1.5% Coconut Extra 1.5% Acetyl Pyrazine 1.5% Toasted Almond 1% Vanillin 1% Bourbon Vanilla 1% Brown Sugar Extra All TFA Flavorings
Also, how much difference in taste is there between the v1 recipe and the castle Long v2 recipe? (I like a strong tasting juice)
Castle Long v2
Kentucky Bourbon (TPA) 6% Coconut Extra (TPA) 3% Acetyl Pyrazine (5%) 2% Toasted Almond (TPA) 3% Vanillin 10% (TPA) 2% Bourbon (Vanilla Bourbon) (FA) 2% Brown Sugar (TPA) 0.5% Oak Wood (FA) 0.5%
Thank you in advance for your help Paul

The second version is basically, more or less, a doubling of the first one .....+ the Oak Wood The second version is more authentic because of the Oak Wood.......but not necessarily better.......it's a bit too much to be honest. The Bourbon Vanilla can be subbed for either of the vanillas you have.......as there is already Kentucky Bourbon in there.......just up the Kentucky Bourbon by another 0.5% to 1% As to which to go for......if you have all the concs anyway......try both. Both will be very vapable.....but you'll be able to choose which one you prefer yourself

Thank you for the advice kreed and dalealan , I think I'll give recipe v1 a go today (with Bourbon Vanilla substituted), then try the others suggested. Just a final thought: I don't have have Coconut Extra (TFA) but only Coconut (TPA) so assume that this is a weaker coconut (as not extra). Should I therefore increase the coconut percentage?

Double the percentage as the coconut extra is very potent. The coconut extra seems to take a week or two to blend in to any mix so it may be about the same with the standard coconut. Go easy on the Acetyl though as a little bit too much can completely overpower the mix. Hope you enjoy it scubadude

My version for that lovely e-juice is...
2.5% Kentucky Bourbon (TPA) 1.5% Coconut Extra (TPA) 1.5% Acetyl Pyrazine (TPA) 1.5% Toasted Almond (TPA) 1.0% Vanillin (TPA) 1.0% Bourbon Vanilla (TPA) 1.0% Brown Sugar (TPA) 0.5% Madagascan Vanilla (FW)
First add both of the bourbons in the bottle along with some of the (nicotine) base, leave it with open lid for few (3-5) hours while gently shaking it once every hour...
then, put the lid back on and leave it for a couple of days in your cupboard...
on the 3rd-4th day, open the bottle, add the remaining concentrates, except vanillin and AP, gently shaking it and back to the cupboard (with lid on) for another 3 days...
afterwards, gently shake it, open the lid, add vanillin and back to the cupboard for another 3 days...
one step before the end... add the Acetyl Pyrazine and back to the cupboard for the another 3 days....
finally, add the rest of the nicotine base and leave it back to the cupboard for the rest of the steeping period...
every 3 days, gently shaking it, opening the lid and leave it open for a few minutes, put the lid back on and back on the cupboard...
it gets ready in about 3 weeks

If this really makes the difference can you please explain why?

well, will try to explain that...
to be honest, the first time I made it (so far have made it more than 6-7 times, in 100ml batches), I just added all the ingredients in a bottle and left it in a dark place for about 6-7 weeks... it was nice, like having a very tasty e-liquids, quite close to the original... but was getting just a mix of all the different tastes just in once taste... you could call it a flat taste...
when i followed some advices i found in forums, by making teams of concentrates that "steeping together" for a short time, so to bond more efficiently and after some time add other groups of concentrates, I managed to get a completely different e-liquid... in this way, I was able to feel different layers of taste, while inhaling or exhaling... and the overall vaping feeling I had was far away better than my 1st try (when i put all together)...
imaging that you are cooking risotto... well, you can put in a casserole butter, onion, garlic, rice, wine and stock, put the lid on and set it on fire for 15 minutes... it will be a kind of risotto...
but, imagine that first you melt the butter, then you add the onions, then the garlic, then the rice, you cook it until it gets transparent, you add your wine and when alcohol evaporates, you start adding the stock in batches until your rice absorbs the liquids so you keep on adding stock for the next 8-10 minutes...
I bet following the second way, it will be one of the best risottos you've ever had...
that's the way i see it, treating any vaping receipe like a cooking one... besides that we are cooking e-liquids...
and most important... at least to me... it's that it perfectly works...

Eliquids could become like fine whiskeys one day!

I just want to thank everyone in this thread for finding another ADV for me. I tried this after only a couple of days steep and my heart sunk as I didn't like it all (bourbon and coconut too overpowering), but tried it again last week after 3 weeks steep and all of the flavours have settled and combined perfectly. I made the following version as I couldn't find Bourbon Vanilla anywhere, so as kreed kindly suggested I upped the Kentucky Bourbon by 0.5% (to 3.0%) and added the lovely Madagascan Vanilla at 1.0% as suggested by qsplan . 3.0% - Kentucky Bourbon (TPA) 1.5% - Coconut Extra (TPA) 1.5% - Acetyl Pyrazine (TPA) 1.5% - Toasted Almond (TPA) 1.0% - Vanillin (TPA) 1.0% - Brown Sugar (TPA) 1.0% - Madagascan Vanilla (FW) At just 10.5% flavouring this is a delicious vape for sure. Thanks all!
