Hi there, would it be ok to use stevia in the place of pa sweetener which so many of these recipes have in them? Just wondering if there would be any difference using the same percentages.

There are several types of sweeteners out there. The most common type is sucralose (like Sweetener (TPA). There are also several types of Stevia-based sweeteners (which should be more healthy). They are mostly used in fruits, candy, and bakery flavors, and like EM a little (typically 1-2 drops per 10 ml) enhances flavors, while a bit more, like 1% and above, will add sweetness. Notes about EM EM is also known as Cotton Candy. Often referred to as a sweetener, though it really isn't. At low percentages, around 0.5-1% it adds body, moisture, and reduces sharp notes. It rounds off the flavors, and brings them out a bit. In other words, it reduces flavor intensity. 1.5-2.5% it significantly reduces flavor intensity. After vaping liquids with very high EM-content, many experience a distinct loss of flavor in anything else you vape, for an hour or more. Around 8-10%, it gives off a distinct burned sugar/cotton candy flavor, but without the sweetness of real cotton candy. Marshmallow by The Perfumer's Apprentice is used like EM, for adding moistness and sweetness. Molasses by The Perfumer's Apprentice imparts sweetness and a spicy note. Brown Sugar Extra by The Perfumer's Apprentice adds sweetness. Most sweeteners brightens other flavors, and it's a good idea to start small. I'm leaning more towards Marshmallow as a sweetener these days e-liquid-recipes.com/master-mixers-tips-and-tricks

Though Im no expert on it (I only ever bought 1 bottle of it) I found stevia has a flavour all of its own. I stopped using it as it made everything taste like stevia.

Stevia also has things to worry about.
Some brands have alcohol added......some have 'padders/fillers/thickeners' added.....like dextrose etc.
It's actually pretty difficult to get 100% natural stevia

I totally prefer Marshmallow, Honey, Maple Syrup, Meringue and Brown Sugar to sweeten things now.
I use EM when I want to sweeten AND smooth out flavours
You can also use Caramel, Vanillin and some other's too to provide sweetness without muting flavours.

It depends on the recipe jacqI've got to the point now where if I see EM in a recipe........I automatically sub for Marshmallow. EM or Marshmallow will sweeten......but will also smooth flavours out.......so great in custards, tobaccos and dessert type vapes TPA sweetener will just sweeten......so better in Fruits.

Would it be better to get the TPA sweetener then. Most definitely yes, or leave it out completely jacq . . . . Stevia isn't to my tastes at all, as it leaves a weird sort of aftertaste I found. You could always up the percentage of Vanillin to 2% to compensate, although I don't find that especially sweet - rather more it adds depth and a creaminess for me.

Thanks Perpetua, I'll get some with my next order. Been using stevia alot in my mixes and always trying to improve Just got to wait for cap cake batter to come in in bulk at chefs vapour to save the postage! They're the only ones I can find to do larger quantities ... If you can get hold of it!

I agree with the Stevia weirdy taste!!
I was using it as a sweetner when I first took up mixing. Juices I used it in left an odd throat coating that wasn't nice. I can't think of any other way to describe it, sorry!
