It's lighter and more delicate and, er, cakier than other sponges.

The madeleine features in Proust's 'Swann's Way', the first volume of 'Remembrance of Things Past', as he describes the smell of a madeleine dunked in tea instantly evoking memories of his childhood, the springboard for the rest of the novel.

Oliver, I made this up ten days ago and tried it last night.
It smells and tastes absolutely delicious and I'll be making a huge vat of it when Rainbow Vapes get more stock in.

Jolly good, spigot . I've got 150ml of it on the go, and a couple of variants in the steeping cupboard - one with added blackcurrant and one with just a tad of prune.

I must admit, panettone isn't something I'd normally buy, but neither was madeleine, so I'll give it a go. What's the flavour?

Sweet bread, vanilla, citrus, raisins. I like it as it is, but if you mixed with it some Devon cream or custard, with a hint of cinnamon, you'd have a posh bread-and-butter pudding type juice

Alright, I got some panettone and its lush. I didn't expect it to be so fruity. Thanks for the tip.
