I agree its a U turn, but its not really. It could also be because 2.4 million people have said they will pull all support for CRUK if they continue to refute the ecig truth. I know I did for one. Someone posted in the comments section FOLLOW THE MONEY! Same rule applies. Yes, I am happy they have now decided to state the facts in an honest way I must say. "direct giving fell by £1.4m to £122m compared with the previous year." From Dodderer scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/.../#commentsAt that time Jean King was CRUK's TC lead and was old school - much like Maria wotshername in the German equivalent. She seems quietly to have been moved out following the vapers outcry and replaced with Linda Bauld. It should be remembered that LB signed the Telegraph letter urging MEPs to vote for full medregs in 2013 and only 'changed her mind' to support the dual approach when that vote was lost. She has never made any anti comment about Article 20 - in fact CRUK supports the Scottish govt proposal to add more restrictions on advertising than are in Art 20 though she has spoken out against the Welsh indoor ban. As noted in the current blog, they are still not prepared to say that ecigs are an effective method despite the mounting evidence from the ASH surveys and the evidence from LB's ELONS study on SSS quitting which shows a disappointing comparison. The touchy-feely wing of TC has always wanted 'light-touch' medregs for ecigs/THR - MHRA couldn't/wouldn't deliver it - so Art 20 effectively represents what they really want +/- a few tweaks. They seem incapable of understanding/caring what real-world impact any level of regulation will have - the 'maximising the benefits' is ignored - they simply have imposed their desired level of regulation and will just work with whatever remains

Whatever the reason for CR UK's change of direction doesn't really matter. What matters is that they have, and are now batting for the other side so to speak. In this war, every little helps.

The phrase is silver bullet, not "magic bullet" senior health information officer....
