Electrical goods are often more expensive here - anything that is branded with a foreign companies Logo, even if actually made here - is subject to a very hefty import tax - that's if it's genuine of course LoL. If you can find a Brand that only has their products assembled in China - who happen to manufacture too - then they would be a good bet to buy from as it's likely to be pretty close to the same equipment set up used for the more expensive brand

I guess they frown on Japanese products.

Well i probably bought the wrong thing - but got a Canon IXUS 160 - with a spare battery fo around £100 - point and shoot - no stabilisation though - but 720 vid and takes a 64Gb card - so with the spare battery that should do. Would have spent a bit more but without being sure if Spinfuel will chip in.... Had a compact of theirs 3 years ago...battery guzzler was an understatement. Canon say yours is: "Flexible, fun and small enough to carry with you everywhere, this stylish 20 Megapixel IXUS with Smart Auto makes shooting beautiful Canon quality photos and HD movies simply effortless for everyone".....and so it might?! Amazing that Stab is present in the £50 action cams and not a little further up the line? In my Nikon DSLR all Stab is performed in the lens bodies. Samsung DSLR Stab was performed by the camera body. Either way all or something singular screws up...then it suddenly gets it right? No Stab will impact on video badly unless the camera is on a tripod. And at 200mm odd equivalent zoom it'll be terrible if not mounted and steady. Panning around might be a problem. On stills and with very good light a digital camera on Auto will configure the aperture to near pinhole diameter and shutter open/close speed very fast. Thats very forgiving of most things except focus. Auto focus can get lost working out a focal point (differencing on scene component edges) in low light despite all claims to the contrary. Flash guns solve a lot of things, but stupidly some DSLRs will refuse to fire a flash unless its got the focus agreed(?). Anybody would think its the old film days with bulbs...pop! Anyway..best test it in all sorts of light states and shooting from the hip etc.
