NO all they have to do is stop dates before that being entered in settings section as a quick fix to stop innocent people bricking their overpriced tech, then go and fix it properly later.

All is forgiven for them standing up to the FBI call me cynical but theres a ring of untruth to the whole " we stand upagainst them" stuff, I know how the visa court works (that's the secret one) they issue a warrant and it gets complied with pronto (the FBI are largely not allowed to use this system) its done in secret and theres no none compliance with it unless you want your company to cease trading immediately (check out the operating licences) Microsoft won a public case that prevents the feebs from exerting control without follow correct procedures on overseas data centres (fax the relevant police force and pay a fee for them gaining the warrant) apple makes a lot of nonsensicle claims about its security features (claims that cannot possibly be true or the ultra secure device wouldn't be able to display messages from other ultra secure devices.....) the only thing they have done is installed a user specified crypto lock on the device itself (yet everything is also stored in the cloud in a different way so you can retrieve it on a replacement device....) they might publicly be promoting the so called unbreakable encryption but you can bet your bottom dollar they already know the contents of it and want the ability to legally use it in open court against someone else /

nanotm The encryption cannot be broken as part of the encryption is set by your passcode which they do not know. However the FBI know that it is a 4 digit passcode resulting in a possible 10,000 combinations. Iphones are set to scrub all data after 10 failed attempts if the function is set by the user - in this case it is unknown if it is or not but they aren't taking the risk. What Apple can do is code another OS that allows more than 10 attempts. They have refused and quite rightly so as this will be abused by all and sundry in what is known as function creep.

I would suggest that he knows something he's not telling, like that perhaps they found a way to sniff the crypto key from the device...... probably had people working on it since the thing was launched and just wants a lucrative government contact to provide the service under a shroud of mysticism using terms like divining the code from reverse social engineering..... not that it would matter if mcafee can do it, unless the data in unlocked by apple it wont be admissible as evidence, if apple cave in they will loose the lucrative position they currently hold as the premier device provider for criminals terrorists and general lowlifes everywhere .....
