gill2009 as someone who works with these amazing animals and is lucky to be owned by some I am 100% convinced that their spirits live on and indeed in some cases they can to a degree reincarnate into the spirit of another dog you come to own in the future. Disclaimer: I'm not mad.

I'm a firm believer in that part of our furry companions spirit lives on for a time after they've left us. I felt Sammy's presence for a good while after we had said goodbye. Fond imagining on my part perhaps, but it gave me comfort at the time. This is one photo from a Senior Dog rescue organization that I found particularly beautiful . . . .

Mandy, I have always felt their presence once they have passed. When I have held them at the time they pass I feel the spirit run through me. On occasions when I haven't been present to hold them (last time in July) I have always known they've passed before the dreaded phone call. Not my imagination but very real. They come to say "thank you my human friend, see you soon". I for one can't wait to get to Rainbow Bridge to see all of my dogs again and see those I've worked with. It will be playtime 24/7. The sooner the better.

I feel exactly the same, I know I won't be in the least bit lonely when my time comes as I'll have all my furry friends keeping me company.

I abused animals when really mentally unwell and misdiagnosed. I thought what I was doing was in their best interests. I was very cautious about getting animals again. I did not want to put them or me through the same... 8 years later I got my first pair of ratties and well....the rest is history (I didn't abuse ratties when I was unwell). I love my ratties and even changed vets from PDSA to a more expensive one when I didn't like how PDSA wouldn't give my terminally ill rattie pain relief (they said it was 'soft tissue damage' - I knew it was not!). I learnt as I went a long and am still learning and they (the ratties) have given me so much!!! Dunno about dogs being in heaven but I know where my ratties go - the rainbow bridge Jane

All animals go to Rainbow Bridge where they play and are pain free. They are waiting for us to join them again.

I have two fantastic staffies, the eldest is 16 but he is sinking very fast,he is the last of three that I had from a previuos lifetime. I just know when he has gone it will break my heart, as I got him when life was awful and he kept me going, they never judge you or take sides.
