Disposing of batteries eco-friendly

Have quite a few old ego style batteries which are now surplus to requirements.

Just wondering the best way to dispose of them. I really don't just want to throw them in the household waste bin.

most supermarkets have battery recycle bins, round here we bag them up and sit them on the recycle bin on bin days..

Just pop them in the supermarket battery recycling bin, when you do your shop.

I've not noticed any battery bins in the local supermarkets, however that may be down to the fact I haven't looked lol.

Not sure if the local recycling facility has a battery recycling section. I will phone the council and ask

they tend to be near the door, or in the front walk out in front of the tills sainsbury and tesco both do it round here..

I live close to both of those shops, I will have a look and see if they have the bins.

my local dump (haven't been there in a few years) have a battery point but they wont take lithium cells unless there taped on both ends (had a few fires in the past) and last time I was I the local shop they request that all batteries have been taped or capped to prevent accidental discharge or fires fortunately both locations also sell electrical tape although they both overcharge for it compared to the pound shops or diy stores ....
