What would you be doing...

If I hadn't found this place to get help, have a rant and let off steam at times, I would most probably be dead by now. After having a heart attack in October 2011, I was given a life expectancy of five years if I didn't kick the stinkies. I struggled for the first year cold turkey then bought an ego and a CE4 ( well who didn't )which kinda dulled my urge to smoke but for another year I struggled. Just about to give up, on giving up and ready to take my chances back on the fags, I decided to dig around the tinternet for some info when I stumbled across this friendly looking place. Took the plunge and joined, got some great advice, bought a decent set up, life was good again and the rest is history.

There will probably be more examples like mine too MRS SLEEPY, but maybe members might feel uneasy talking about them. But this forum and its members is probably the biggest thing that encouraged me not to go back to tobacco.

I have a nose around Facebook, but like others rarely post unless I have something useful to say.
I spend a lot of time listening to music as part of my job (oh, what a hardship, I hear people say!), but apart from that I really look forward to the light evenings when I can indulge my passion for getting out and walking. I put on so much weight in the winter months, and can't wait to reveal my six-pack in the summer (only joking, unfortunately!).

if i'm not actively on the forum pages i'm probably chatting with the OH, reading something to with politics of some sort or another, researching something or playing some game or other, outside of immediate family I speak In person to maybe 3 people on an frequent but irregular basis (there all extended family) and once a month I meet my dad for lunch at a pub in town, funny thing is i don't really miss the things i used to do and i don't really miss the people that much either, although i do often get antsy when i cant do something i could do before so tend ot bury myself in things i can do like sitting in the corner using the pc, but hey now ive stoped smoking instead of maybe another 20+ years of this i'll probably manage another 40+ well so long as i have the OH i really don't need anyone else, besides its soul destroying every time some pointless cowardly twat looks at the veterans badge and utters things like "dont give that baby killer any help" or worse ( give me a gun and i'll happily deal with them till the cows come home)so all things considered i'd rather stay home where its warm and the companies pleasant, besides nobody wants to employ a guy that wears nappies, so its not like i need to go out most of the time

Stopped going to the local when the smoking ban started, couldn't have a pint without a fag. Now most evenings when I get home from work I just chill with a bit of tv/web, Fridays I like to have a couple of beers have a nosey around here and couple of other forums, sounds quite boring I suppose, but most weekends my two grandchildren stay over, 3 and 5 year olds so that keeps us busy !!!!

wil7985 if your local is the one I think it is they allow vaping.

This is a good place to be, with friendly people without doubt. It certainly is helpful where going down the pub isn't what it once was. Apart from the price of a pint the one thing that I noticed was the appearance of the billiard table too close to those who have no interest in it...then the huge TV. Darts to me was the limit and I think enjoyable to most... no wounds to show for it either? In the Middle East our best player was the then Minister of Justice (Oman). Any time he was in UK he'd have to go to a nearby pub for a game or 10 (add Black Label).

In the air force (60's) I worked on a number of well out of the way ground transmitters. About 200 yards away in one very small village not far from Eastbourne was a little old pub (literal swift half). Night shift had its uses...we could have been seriously done for that!

Anyway, this is the kinda of place that well waters down the emissions of the BBC...and the like.

I am always here, even though I hardly ever post I love reading about everything else confident in the fact if I do need to rant or just chat someone is here. I don't go out now like I use to due to a disability, I don't have any actual friends apart from you lovely people x
