Its a fact that nicotine is highly addictive and we all know that, but the general public think that smoking and its killer is nicotine and not the additives and tar that blocks the lungs and causes the mutation of cells into cancer cells, IMHO. I met a healthcare professional not so long ago who said Nicotine was responsible for just about everything from soggy chips to cellulitis to banking disasters. I asked if I was sensible to vape instead of smoke..... he wasn't sure. w.t.h? This is the crap we have to deal with. Some of these people earn £125,000 a year... and they don't know anything. Medicine is a pretty broad field, and very few individuals if any are upto date with the bleeding edge of every aspect. SO as long as the practice nurse in charge of NRT is on the ball on the subject you should relax your expectations of other clinicians they have enough to keep on top of with their own specialities as well as the usual duties of the job.. as long as your pediatrician is on the ball with childbirth and your GP knows who to refer you to if needed and the most applicable prescription to cure your ailment all is good
