'I'll leave that a bit longer' Custard

Back in December I was trying to make a VC mix that had a little more bite, I'd tried what was generally accepted as the Grants clone and really didn't like the Dulce et Leche at all even though it did give it more depth it wasn't for me.

I made up a few VC testers, doughnut, horchata, cinnamon danish, apple danish, bavarian cream, french vanilla deluxe.
 This was one that tickled my taste buds, found the Horchata and Cinnamon a bit too synthetic at the time and put it at the back of the drawer.

One for the uber patient mixers, it only gets better.

Mix at your prefered ratios, mine was 70% VG

12%    Vanilla custard V1   (CAP)
3%      French Vanilla deluxe (TPA)
1.5%   Cinnamon Danish  (CAP)
1.5%   Horchata     (TPA)
0.5%   Ethyl Maltol

A wise man once said to me, any more than 10% Cap Custard is lost/wasted. Not sure how wise that statement truly is, but this looks lovely and I'll be sure to try it, thanks.

I'm not sure that's so wise as I find 10% to be rather weak.
I'm mixing this weekend with 15%

You know, I've never tried Cap Custard on it's own. I shall make it so this weekend :-)

+1 for TPA Horchata, I like it added to custardy mixes, it reminds me of Ovaltine, lol, I also add some vanillin , it's nice in desert type mixes too

DDL is very potent but at 1% I find quite nice

Me to, as a predominantly Custard blend  . . . . at least 12% I go if not stronger.

I push the boat out with trial mixes and went 8-10-12% with VC and 1-2-3% with Horchata and Cinnamon danish, higher is still good but I do find that there is a personal cut off point where I'm all vanilla'd out.
For example I really like Custardy Lovechild @ 25% VC1 but its an occasional juice, I put some in a tank and vaped it for a whole day, quite simply it was all I could taste for days.
Tea, coffee, fish n chips....all with a definite hint of Vanilla custard

Mind you I couldn't vape just one flavour all day anyway, I've normally got 8 on the go to stop the boredom setting in . . . . there's always the original recipe, with 1% of Vanillin added for a lighter touch.

I'm tending towards using less VC now, have cut it back to 15% with 5% French Vanilla and a dash of EM or sweetener to, err, ahem, sweeten it a bit!
I have also mixed some Kreed's Kustard and am dripping it as I speak - a very different flavour, but most acceptable!

Better, more efficient equipment now is certainly making a difference chykensa . . . . although in a mainly VC based blend, I certainly need more than anything under 10% for it to be enjoyable or even custardy to my tastes.

Yes, I have recently built a Velocity dripper with dual twisted coils and Scottish Roll wicks, runs at .4ohm, power at 70w the flavour and vapour are most satisfactory. With these parameters, I could probably cut back a bit more, but I also use the same juice in a couple of Griffins with twin Clapton coils, so need the extra flavour in the recipe for these.

Curiously enough, I just don't enjoy any Custards that I've tried subohming with chykensa . . . . just strips the flavour right out for my tastes. So I'm still on ' old school ' stuff for them.

Yet everything else I enjoy.

It's no doubt a quirk of my taste buds as everyone else seems to - there's always one!

I vape custards at about 22watts and between 1.5 and 1.8 ohms. Too much power kills the taste I find, mind you as the saying goes  "one mans meat is another mans poison"

Yet I don't hammer the power on anything tsoko, so it's a mystery to me why I don't enjoy a custard at higher wattage's.


Although it doesn't bother me at least I've the opportunity to use some of the past clobber that's been accumulated over the years!
