It would be a tourer,i am sick of looking at over priced rents for flats and the ones that are affordable are in areas where i wouldn't sleep at night.I'm wanting to stick it in my parents garden for now,i know there are regulations for outside dwellings but i'll cross that bridge, just need my own space. Interesting. I wondered about the regs on that. Opposite me is a 20 foot thing (double axle) and parked on the front garden..or what was a garden. Its powered by a cable laid on the ground. It also has a Discovery and ex Army tented trailer parked with it. This arrangement blocks all light into the house front window. Nobody lives in it whilst parked and it might do a single outing per year. I've seen a 230v cable laid out (house to remote garage) 30 mtrs away for battery charging. That cable sat in about an inch of water for quite some time with people having to access their garages nearby. A word with that person wasn't particularly good!

if you want something on the cheap rather than making hard wired changes to the home your best bet would be to get a mains to caravan extension cable and run it through a window or vent hole (don't most modern windows have vent holes in them and most older buildings have air bricks ?) and so long as its got streamers you can have it up high instead of on the ground (last time I did this I used a hosepipe cut to size as a weather shield with self sealing tape on either end to keep the water out) that would then let do what your wanting on the cheap and yet still be compliant with various rules and regulations.....
if your talking about a perma solution then sure a hardwired dedicated power outlet would be the way ahead but its expensive to get it done right and unless your really going to be in that van for several years maybe not worth the outlay/
E.T.A.: I forgot to mention that I do this with a plug in RCD and a having a competent person attach the plugs to the lead after passing it through the vent holes, because obviously the plugs wont fit through the holes.....
