Does anyone know how easy/hard it would be to get power from the house to a caravan in the garden.

Simples. Just a bog standard 13a extension cable. Caravans have an adapter to take a regular plug and fit to a commando socket.

Sorry i was thinking more long term so an open window is no good. Its an underground armoured cable. So nobody but a JCB driver can wreck it. And that would likely need wiring into your consumer box. You'll need a qualified electrician.

As an alternative to a permanent connection using armoured buried cable to your caravan, you could get a waterproof socket on the exterior of your house, then run an extension cable. Depends really on what your plans are. [ETA] - (as charliehorse says below.... the installation of an exterior socket would also require an electrician).

Does your caravan have provision for power hook-up? If so, with the help of the aforementioned qualified electrician, a bog standard hook-up cable running from house to caravan would do the job. Would need a supply attached to the outside of the property though, hence the sparky!

If it's a static you should really have your own network supply from the DNO, no PME earth allowed, TT earth only. If it's a touring van then one of these... & one of these...

It would be a tourer,i am sick of looking at over priced rents for flats and the ones that are affordable are in areas where i wouldn't sleep at night.I'm wanting to stick it in my parents garden for now,i know there are regulations for outside dwellings but i'll cross that bridge, just need my own space.
