Prof Reviews the Hellfire Sidewinder Dripper

Why?

Hellfire Drippers are are some of the very best flavour devices out there (and I have a LOT of drippers). All my current HF Drippers are side air feed, so when I visites the Attysmith website and noticed the Sidewinder was in stock, I clicked "order". The Sidewinder is top air-feed and also short cranked (I have a couple of 22mm HF short-cranked drippers and really like them).

What did I get?

Very fast delivery for a start! I received the usual jiffy bag containing the usual pink bubble wrap bags - one with the device in and the other containing a Hellfire Keyring.

Anyway, here is the Sidewinder:



Towards the top of the cap is a nicely machined slot which exposes the top hole air feed (and enables you to see where the hole is ):

(you will note it has a "squonkers" connector fitted - I dont squonk - more later)

The website hadn't said the Sidewinder was bottom feed, and as a 100% metal tube mod man I was initially perturbed, BUT all was well, because the spare bag contained this:



Yes - a spare non-bottom-feed centre screw... Phew!

So, having found and used the right hex key, my deck looked like this:



Building the Sidewinder

I'd bought this as a flavour atty - and for that I favour chunky twisted Kanthal coils of around 0.7ohms. Here is the one I built (I i left the posts widely spacred by the way):





I then wicked up with Puff cotton and replaced the cap with the hole above the coil.

In Use

Here is the Sidewinder on one of my Super T Workhorse Telescopics (with an old-style Super T "wide-bore" tip - shows how time has changed - this is a narrow tip by modern standards):



I filled up with some NET from Real Extracts, and went at it - it works brilliantly - excellent flavour, good vapour production and (with 24mg juice) good hit.
