Probably been asked a million times before, although I do a bit of sub-homing. I love my protanks for everyday vaping. What I'm looking for is something to replace these, is there a new equivalent to the protank with easily rebuilt coils ? or if not where's the best place to buy the protanks.

I have always used protanks too wil7985 but have gradually moved over to Kanger subtanks - I have 1 last protank in daily use but I just bought myself a top fill subtank that will be replacing it shortly, I have a mixture of nano's and mini's some genuine some clones all from fasttech cheap as chips. The subtanks don't have to be used for sub'ohming they do a 1.5 and a 1.2 ohm coil and of course if you use the rba head you can coil to whatever ohms you prefer. I made the switch as I actually got fed up with recoiling and rewicking and the subtank coils last me weeks without needing to be replaced - you can actually recoil the horizontal subtank coilheads and/or dry burn & rewick but as the coils last so long and are so cheap I'm not even bothering to do that and love the fact that when I want to change coils its faff free. Personally I find the vertical coils last even longer than the horizontal coils but I wouldn't know or even want to know how to rebuild those and if I ever did decide to recoil those heads I'd bung in a horizontal.

I did try my subtank with a 1.5 ohm coil and a smaller drip tip, but found it to airy for me, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I recently made the change from protanks to subtanks I run mine at 2.5ohm on the rebuildable heads With a Kuro Koiler, coiling is a breeze

Took me a little while to adjust to the airiness of a wide open valve however I do now prefer it fully open with some of my high VG juices but I do have the valve almost closed for a couple of them particularily if I want to keep the fog down a bit lol What I did find made a difference though was switching from my vase style drip tips that I use on the protanks to a much wider bore drip tip on the subtank - oh and I do still predominantly mouth to lung with the subtanks just like the protanks even when subohming.

I would have to say for ease of rebuilding stock coils then it would have to be innokens isub range, the ready mades last yonks, they can be dry burnt and rewicked and when the coil finally gives up, then taking apart and redoing coil is pretty straightforward, very like protanks but bigger and less fiddly

Just make sure the coils are fully saturated before you vape on them.

On the very occasional time my Mrs has had to use a subtank mini Ive altered the draw down to a very reasonable MTL by simply slipping a piece of cotton wick through 1 of the sets of holes in the pos pin of the rba. Its then just a case of poking it out when no longer needed.

I have just ordered some 2.0 coils for my isub, gonna give them a try. If they last half the time my 0.5 ohms do I will be pleased.

Well I've been converted, now I'm using an isub with a 2.0 ohm coil at 13.5 watts for mtl hits and have to say they have so much more flavour than my old protanks.
