So, used RM many a time for stuff sent to members.
On Friday just after 9 am I posted out something 1st Class Signed for at the local post office, I'd usually drive into town to the main place but as I was off on a job and the local place is just 2 mins up the rd i thought i'd use them.
Well today is now Monday 7 pm and it still hasn't been delivered. Tracking number shows it's been posted but that's all.
Tomorrow morning will head up the the post office with the receipt to see what's what Just wondering what they will say and what else I can do? Hoping it will just get delivered tomorrow but you never know.
Any other advice?

Very little that you can do -V- until 10 working days has past after due date, after which you can put in a claim, which isn't a fun/quick process either. First Class however is not guaranteed next day delivery, so it's probably a case of waiting and hoping for delivery 'soon'. [ETA] - thought it was 15 working days (I think it used to be) ... have changed above ^^^^ after checking

The tracking probably won't change until it's delivered, as it's a signature upon delivery that you're paying for and not tracking, royal mail won't consider an item lost until 10 days have elapsed, after which time you can start an investigation, I would suggest contacting customer services and ask for a P58 claim form, if successful you can claim up to £50.00 but would need to provide proof of value etc Hope this helps Cheers Glen

Only ever had a handful of items reported not delivered that never turned up, and at least one of these appear likely to have been stolen from the doorstep.

I had something couldn't be delivered (wasn't in to receive it) then it went AWOL on redelivery. Turned up about 2 weeks later

Some years ago I'm sure I read that RM were subject to wild cat strikes various. Dunno really as it wasn't reported openly. Anything can go wrong in transit but if it has a tracking number - they should know the last place the item was scanned. It'll take some time to dig out of any mess. All the classes of post have a best guess number of days on them but am sure RM would not honour any of it come to the crunch?
The service is not so much a service as a p8ss take....when you dig down on it.

Be patient as it's early days yet -V- . . . . not long ago I had a delivery take a week to be delivered 1st Class Recorded post, not a first class service by any means - but it did eventually arrive safely.

This has happen to me. I sold a couple of crown tanks to river. Posted on the 29th of April he didn't receive them when I tracked the item it still says delivery in process I gave river a refund and sent him a photo of the proof of reciept of postage as I felt really bad. This hasn't happen to me before. Anyway I have made a claim although I can only claim for the £32 which I sold the tanks for as you have to give proof. It's up to £50 if you can prove it. And they also said they won't give me that £32 untill 30 days time. Terrible service if you ask me. the only way you can really guarantee something is to send special delivery.

yeah we had a local strike here, the fellas that did the collections from post boxes and sub offices went on strike, the delivery guys worked as normal, after 4 days you couldn't get anything else into the post box and the sub office was refusing to take any more mail in, then the DO went on strike for 2 days so even though the mail was being collected nothing was getting delivered or sorted ... the only reason anyone found out about this mini strike was the local rag missed its deadline for submission and failed to be printed for a couple of days.... its utterly stupid that local strikes can be called within sub departments of a nation wide company by a national union....
its like the 70's all over again with mini strikes being declared every 5 minutes, my fav has to be the RM union workers at the customs centre near Gatwick, went on strike for 2 weeks then took 3 weeks to catch up with all the stuff piled in their in tray .....
