www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36169929 Can't believe yet another EC225 has failed so badly, the main rotor was filmed in mid air minus an attached chopper FFS ! How can these failures continue to occur despite millions being spent previously to identify gearbox cracking issues. I must have flown on those damn things hundreds of times over 20 years, never ever again. No doubt theyll ground the model for a few weeks, the announce it was a one off failure and then back to business as usual There but for the grace of God. God rest their souls.

I agree with your sentiment greg, but if it is an entirely new new fault could it not be down to maintenance and servicing or lack of?

Given the amount of failures and high profile I'd like to think not but time will tell I guess. Previously it's been a manufacturing / design within the gearbox but this time the whole main rotor parted the chopper in mid air.

How many of these are there Greg, they must be replacing them anyhow as time goes on, surely they wouldn't keep on buying them with known problems, nah don't tell me, they are cheaper?
Sorry I did't say it sooner, but commiserations to all that have lost friends and family in this accident, when all they were doing is going to and from work, you never know?

yeah well the RAF had to sell off the majority of their inventory .... they had enough spare parts to build another 100 when they stopped using the super puma ......
