Really in a bad mood today got woke up this morning with the sound of a bang. The wife was doing a washing today and the bloody machine blew up. She says the thing started leaking water and was trying to turn it off, somehow the water got into to the motor and then bang. She was really shook up but is fine now. Local electrician says the thing is f**ked and would be cheaper getting a new machine rather than repair. So sat here with a flooded kitchen a fecked washing machine and a wife with PTSD. Looks like i am going to have to get a refurbished one rather than a new one as i am completely skint.

Or go for a rental one, at least it would be brand new mate. We used to rent ours as the job i was in at the time meant it was getting a proper beating i think it was about 15 quid a month.

Put a request on your local freecycle. People today get rid of really good stuff because they changed colour schemes! I know, I know, but my daughter in law does it every year. My son is pulling his hair out

If you're alright with credit have a look on very.co.uk, some reasonable priced washers and buy now pay later for a year with no interest if you pay off in the year isn't bad! Just another option to consider but good ideas by others. Don't get like me though I'm on reduced payments haha

Mother in law has come to the rescue. We managed to scrape £100 together and Mother in law has offered to pay the balance and we pay her back when we can. The wife says i have to do all the washing in future. Shinys are off the menu for the foreseeable future

Not surprised your wife was shook up but thank god she didn't get electrocuted. I know yours was a washing machine, but there have been so many cases of tumble dryers blowing up/catching fire.

I've got two of the cheapo machines circa £250. No complex functionality (good!). I have two because they tend to eat the commutator brushes per two years. So the second is in the garage waiting to fire up from my last brush replacement and commutator scrub.
I'm still recovering from 2 years back when I went to fix a Hoover tumble drier. They had pretty much welded the outer casing on so I could not get at anything internal. This is a dead simple stuff..but they did that?
I think Indesit suddenly forgot how to keep fluff away from electric motors...an "engineer" wishes to visit, sorry?
