It was mildly entertaining but nothing special. Same as it has been for years. The specials are always fun but the day to day show is tired as ****. Should of just ended it there really.

I wasn't impressed by Evans, he was over doing it. The Beeb are trying to keep the format the same but it was so much about the presenters and your just not going to replicate the old trio. I thought the Robin Reliant challenge was crap but enjoyed the Viper ACR test. Bloody funny that Sabine Schmitz managed to get another passenger to throw up and a Top Gun pilot at that. The Extra Gear show needs to be incorporated in to the main show.
I'll wait to see how the up coming episodes fair before making any further judgement.
For me the first show was a FAIL!

The worst of it was the content, Robin Reliants, jeeps, cars with guns, pathetic, if that was the best they could come up with I don't hold out much hope for the future, Clarkson etc, built a bloody space rocket with a Reliant, now that was awesome.

I expect Jenson Button will have some time on his hands at the end of the season when his drive goes to Vandoorne. Reckon he fancies a bit of Top Gear presenting?

The pedant in me feels the need to point out that they were Reliant Rialtos and not Robins.
I'll shut up now, nobody likes a pedant.

I went off Top Gear a long time ago when it became 'The Clarkson Show'. I preferred to watch one of the idiots wasting a set of Pirellis on a track than watch a trio of spoilt millionaires chasing around the world on a so called challenge. So a return to that format is definitely not going to put TG on my watch list. Robin Reliants, willies jeep v series 1 land-rover and a Top Gun styled missile lock chase? Matt LeBlanc? Still playing Joey. Ze German bird? Chris Evans. Clarkson was a tough act to follow but the Beeb went one better and found someone whose presentation I've loathed and detested ever since Big Breakfast. oh well could it be worse? ... could be Fifth Gear. After watching Sundays episode I think I'd rather watch fifth gear. I've never liked Chris Evans which really didn't help matters. Roll on the grand tour

Blimey we forgot that this was on again this evening.
That wouldn't have happened during the Clarkson era.

It looks as though they are beginning ho find their way. As expected the legend that is Eddie Jordan improved things and Jenson Button was good value as ever. Button? Absolute coincidence that he featured after my comments last week

They still missed the mark and tried a lame version of what the old team did
Evans test drove a car. Looked like he needed a change of underwear after testing it Then told everyone that he was buying one
The challenge, they used top of the range cars and a lame attempt at tenting
The old gang would have been given a hundred quid to buy a top of the range car and they would not have needed extras to make the challenge look interesting and dangerous Hammond would have found some method to make tenting fun There would have been a lack of wild life left alive, if the old team had been asked to capture a wild animal in the reverse camera

You could always go out somewhere? The great outdoors, sunshine, fresh air and beer gardens?
