What do you guys think of it?
Just watched it on iplayer
Evans imo is trying too hard to follow the old style and failing massively, rather than trying to turn it into something fresh with his own touch
Only having two presenters also spoils the fun with the challenges

I havent seen it yet. I do think that the last act was always going to he hard to follow. So going with a completley new set up and format would have been the best option...seems like they copying the old format?

Evans tries too much to be like Clarkson and misses it by several million miles And thats being kind
A couple of his comments about catering and keeping the stig, were aimed at the old team
The audience, the look on their faces, you get the impression they would rather be at home getting more enjoyment from watching paint dry

It was appallingly bad - Chris Evans looked like he was like a deer in headlights at times, and why was he wearing what looked like welly boots in the studio? The nasty jibes at Clarkson which were clearly scripted left a very bad taste in the mouth and frankly I don't think a publicly funded company should be using license payers money to take cheap shots at sacked ex-employees. I found that to be petty and spiteful and not the least bit amusing.
Theres absolutely NO chemistry between him and Matt Le Blanc - and I don't think Le Blanc had a clue what was going on half the time.
Everything seemed like they were trying far far too hard and missing by a country mile - it was rushed in parts yet dragged on and on at times - and what on earth was the point of that German lady driver?

I dont think the penny has dropped with the BBC yet. Top gear was never really about cars, it was about the chemistry between three presenters that were quite clearly mates on and off the screen. You cannot manufacture it and you cannot force it. After 15 minutes i turned it off as it was just making me cringe. Even the audience cheering and clapping was so obviously choreographed. As for Chris Evans, dont get me started. Amazon here i come.

Well I think it can only get better.
They did try too hard and following in Clarkson 's footsteps was always going to be a tough act to follow.
Too soon for me to say farewell to Top Gear.

It wasn't that bad! Worth watching for the slowmo replay of Teddy taking Gordon Ramsay out if nothing else Although I've got a little more time for Ramsay after learning about his taste in cars. I'm not at all jealous of the LaFerrari Spider he'll be getting his mitts on, or his gorgeous LaFerrari for that matter. Give it time, Eddie Jordan is always good value, I'm sure things will pick up when we start to see him. The biggest disappointment for me was Extra Gear. A massive waste of Chris Harris' talent if that's all we'll see him doing.

A few cars worth drooling over, especially Ramsay's LaFerrari. Exactly the colour I'd go for.
Who knew that swearing a lot on TV and going out of your way not to cook could make someone so rich?

I didn't think so either Bren! Takes time for a program like this to settle down and gel, when so much of the enjoyment also relies on the interaction between the presenters. I'll give it a few more watches before it's off my viewing schedule completely. Meanwhile as someone who has definitely now entered the ranks of the ' Granny Driver ' . . . . . I'm still in awe of Sabine's Nurburgring challenges!

I went off Top Gear a long time ago when it became 'The Clarkson Show'. I preferred to watch one of the idiots wasting a set of Pirellis on a track than watch a trio of spoilt millionaires chasing around the world on a so called challenge. So a return to that format is definitely not going to put TG on my watch list.
Robin Reliants, willies jeep v series 1 land-rover and a Top Gun styled missile lock chase? Matt LeBlanc? Still playing Joey. Ze German bird? Chris Evans. Clarkson was a tough act to follow but the Beeb went one better and found someone whose presentation I've loathed and detested ever since Big Breakfast.
oh well could it be worse? ... could be Fifth Gear.
