Since you are familiar with baseball, Gordy, I'll explain what he did in baseball terms. He hit a fly ball to deep left field. lol. I don't think that is acceptable in the game of cricket.

Perfectly OK in cricket. It's fairly similar to baseball, in spirit anyway, but with more cake.

All that I know about cricket is that you hit the ball and then run to posts (wickets?), until the ball is retrieved. Oh yeah and there's a pitch called a googlie? I think it's something like throwing a curveball.
