A wonderful thread on Ebay Q&A, back in the days of ecigs being sold on there, got me going on my vaping journey. Although my first attempt stalled and it took me another year to wind up sufficiently to have another go with them. The rest is definitely history.

E-cigs were something that was on my radar and I was vaguely contemplating giving one a go but hadn't really done anything about. My best friend from uni was visiting and as she was walking off the platform at the train station she was "smoking" as she passed the British Transport Police!! I soon found out it was an e-cig and although we had much more to talk about than nasty nicotine addiction but it planted a seed. I was going to Europe the day she left and I planned to stock up on cigs so I did . I didn't quite manage to get as many as I wanted but I wasn't too concerned as I wanted to give this e-cig thing a try, when I came back again the e-cig thing was more on my radar but the google searches I did really blew my mind a bit I eventually found www.freshcig.co.uk, initially I thought they were great until the batteries kept breaking (they offered a 3o day money back guarantee but it made me feel guilty returning them all the time) , I then tried skycigs and e-lites but I preferred the original after two months realised there was no holy grail holy grail to this cig alike thing , I was enjoying reducing my cig intake but the constant breaking of hardware was stressful. Back to Google , Happy Days found ECF , Chrissie found me and recommended the Riva and the rest is history , well not completely , but the hiccups aren't as frequent or expensive and I have the back up of all you lovely people on here

It seems that in the early days people were less likely to continue or take it up, but as the cigs have got better than it's more or less a 100% get one straight away now, can't be bad, unless you make tobacco cigs , but there's already a thread for that.

The wife's ex husband came over Christmas Time and was soley using his. He, like me, had been a chain rolly smoker for 40 years. I poo pooed it and went on with the weed, thinking it to be a fad. 3 weeks later he was still on them, so I bought a 510 and dual vaped/smoked, then got an Echo and went clean. Not gone back nor has he.

At the time I was on champix originally and having really bad dreams, my mate at work suggested electronic cigs, so I bought one for my other half. I remember it was a gammucci and it cost a fortune from amazon. He liked it but then his mother had a stroke and we both went back on fags. Then in feb I got really fed up with having a bad chest and everywhere I was stank of stale smoke so I looked into it again, and found the smokers angel originally and bought a tank kit (501) off them, and progressed but what amazed me was the first draw of the tank I never had a analouge since. And I was a heavy smoker.

I was walking through a shopping centre and some guy on a display asked me did I smoke - I said yes and he asked me to try an e-cig. Was impressed but went away empty handed. Thought about it for a few days then came back to buy one - one of those that looks like a cigarette. Paid 30 quid and was happy with what I had as it was preferable to analogues. Then came on this site and realised there was more to vaping than the standard flavours and cartridges! Currently rocking Grizwalds juice and Visions Deffo loving it and will try to get as many peeps to try vaping!

Hello & welcome Thesonandheir I'm so pleased we have helped you find that there is so much more to vaping than the (often overpriced) ciggie lookalikes

well i still owe chrissie big time for her dogged (or better say catted) posts on the old ebay boards. see! i'd never even heard of ecigs back then or the possibility that i could ever get through life without me rollies..but here i and we all are! like some others, i never in a squillion years intended to stop the regular smokes, i'd never have thought it possible. it just happened to happen (in about a fortnight or so as i recall). this time was just my terrible fear of ditching what had been so part of my life, and hatred of change to my routine- it was just a terrible fear of being without. i then found that i actually got on better with vaping. i found it better than rolling.

I started vaping in October 2008 with a rubbish (although it seemed OK at the time) lookey likey kit bought from ebay. I can't remember if it was before or after I joined Chrissie's group ??? after i think. It lasted about a month, then packed up, so like a twit, I bought another one. That one lasted longer, several months, then it packed up too. I remember contacting the seller, and he said he'd had no complaints before and must be doing something wrong, so I bought yet another kit!
They were only usb changeable in those days and I had a slow and rubbish computer, don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. When the third kit gave up the ghost sometime the following year, I gave up with the e cigs and started smoking again. All in all, I suppose I've vaped for about a year and 3 months.

Awww thanks Beeps Wish we could still openly discuss e-cigs on the ebay forums - but they ain't what they used to be

Never a truer word said Chrissie. I'm still in one as I have a lot of 'cyber' friends in it, but it's a nightmare to post in.

Well I must admit E-Cigs have got to be the easiest way to actually stop smoking ever invented, I went from 20 a day to 0 in two days, never tried patches or gum, or anything else as i wasn't even trying to stop smoking, not intentionally anyhow.
