I am a power mode only vaper and have only ever used Kanthal/nicrome wire.
Have any of you noticed any difference in flavour between Kanthal/nchrome and SS in power mode?

yes and no. Yes it tastes different. Any better no.
perhaps its (not) just me but I found that I get better flavour from nichrome. Even though I can turn the power up to reduce ramp time with nichrome, I find the altogether faster ramp-up of SS seems to kill the lower temperature flavour. I have the same with Ni200 and titanium, the Ni200 seems to zip up to temperature tasting very bland.
Does that sound right?

@yingyang
i have use ssteel exclusively for years
to be honest i like it and it is bio-compatible (the body can absorb large amounts with out any side affects, Google it if needs be )
i also adopted using stainless steel as it contains no aluminium as other wires do (Google aluminiuim and links to altzimers)
but at the end of it all its all down to personal choice

@yinyang
Most of the resistance wires that are used for vaping have been developed years ago for applications that are not breathed in at all

The way I look at it is that its still orders of magnitude safer than inhaling all the carbon monoxide, arsenic, tar and other lovelies that I did for 30 plus years. Yes there are possible health risks but for me they are so low I don't think about it.

Even these have chromium, molybdenum and nickel in their alloy composition. and yes erik514, its not smoking and we're not vaping off glowing coils either.

like i said in my prior post its a personnel choice i never dry burn coils and regularly change my coils
stainless steel is an every day material and used extensively in the food industry even used in surgical implants

316L is all I'm using these days. I like it and use it in both power and TC mode. You can dry burn it enough to clear gunk off coils and make builds last. Tastes good to me, haven't used Kanthal in quite a while. I prefer SS faster ramp up time. You should try it TC.

With ss I definitely notice quick ramp up and I find juices taste a little sweeter.I also found that some more volatile juices like banana didn’t seem to like ss and spat and overheated at times. In tc mode with several different DNA200'S I find the mods loose track of what's happening at times due to the flat curve. I haven't totally discounted ss but I'm enjoying kanthal claptons and find it kinder on my flavours right now with a nice smooth vape. Ni200 and Nife I can't get on with the black stuff it leaches and gunks my wicks. Never bothered the Ti That's the short and curlies of my experience
