Based on the comments I built a staggered fused clapton. 2 x 26AWG Kanthal + 32AWG Stainless Steel fused with 32AWG Stainless Steel. Ramp up time has almost disappeared and so far the vape is superb.

Now that's a step further than the fused claptrap, staggered/stapled is not one I have had much success making as yet.
I suppose you have turned the power up or reduced the coil mass? Or both?
